After seeing the extreme poverty in Ethiopia I am donating my prize money from @bostonmarathon to @StepsFoundation grants in Ethiopia.
How awesome is this? When was the last time you saw one of the African runners donate money to Africa? Like....never?
Hall is a real inspiration.
#1 most american runners win so little money that it wouldn't make sense for them to donate it.
#2 It's VERY easy to donate 0 dollars of your 0 dollar cash prize. Please do not see an offering of 0 dollars to etheopia as altruistic. Unless the BAA is offering "first american to drop out" prize smoney, then Ryan Hall is a long shot from money.
1. Boston prize money is $150k for first place so that would indeed be a MASSIVE win for Ethiopia.
2. The donation is tax deductible so the actual money spent by Hall would be considerably less.

A lot of African runners are also involved in building hotels, establishing real estate empires and various other forms of greed. We taught em well.

I think Hall is going *well* under 2:10. There's no reason to think he won't. Dude is a beast and he's always quiet like this before hitting one out of the park.

He needs to look around his own country and see the poverty right under his nose. Let' Kenny take care of Ethiopiia. Besides they'll get more that way.
Geb builds a lot but doesn't give handouts. He is big on creating jobs so people can work and schools for children.

I don't know if you're serious or not (I'm leaning towards not), but most African runners do. That's why they run; to help out their hometown.
Would be more impressed if he were giving his appearance money.

He won't be donating that 15% that Ray Flynn earns from his earnings, nor will he be donating the taxes that he owes uncle Sam. How much does a 5-10 place finish because most likely he won't be finishing any higher than 5th even if he runs 2:07.
