I'm a Mary person, because I know how to spell Cain. Eframsisgishsnson (sp?) is too complicated for me.

I haven't seen a question this stupid since DyeStat circa 2003. You must be about 15.
touchy...very touchy. Hmmm...
Just wait and see...we have seen just about all we will from Cain with regard to improvements. In the end, Alexa will have a much better career. In two years, it will be "Mary who" and we will all be posting threads starting "Alexa MF Efraimson"

Mary decided she didn't want to go with pacer and nobody dared upset her plans. She is only 17 but already the alpha dog in these races.
Saw Alexa after the race. She was very disappointed. Hopefully by today she's gotten some perspective & realized it was a great effort ( and result! ). The fact she wasn't satisfied shows me that she is hungry & is not satisfied to be the 2nd best H.S.'er we've seen in the last few years. Watch her chase Cain's H.S. marks over the next year & enjoy! Stay healthy Alexa.
I think that it's funny that there now are two girls in high school who just ran faster in the mile indoors than nearly every poster on letsrun can run. There are a lot of jealous 17-minute 5K guys this morning...
I think that race was paced perfectly for Efraimson, but slow for Cain et al. That said, the 4:32 would have been headlines in the pre-Cain era. Cain, however, was just toying with the rest. It's outrageous. I can't wait to see what happens to these two in the next decade. Both girls are beyond what I ever expected to see in USA high school ranks.
Mary Cain is basically world class and could and probably will win some races in Europe this summer. A better Mary Decker Slaney is my eyes. No need to compare the two right now.
Efaimson is a sick phenon prep who will win NCAA titles hand over fist in the short future.

2:20/2:12, with lots of jostling, and getting stuck behind runners when the move was made up front is NOT "perfectly paced" in any rational analysis. She is clearly five seconds better than the time she ran yesterday. If you don't agree, just look at the PRs of who she beat.
Alexa will go pro next year, assuming she stays helathy for the rest of this year.

You're probably right. She's probably not going to run any faster than 3:48.

Stop posting idiot.
She will be lucky to go below 3:59...if she gets that.

You are horrible at making points. The PRs of those she beat are irrelevant to the point your trying to make.

I was just wondering if Alexa would go pro or run in college... is your comment speculation or have you heard that is planning to go pro?
What was Hasay's best indoor mile as a HS junior? Actually, what was Hasay's best indoor mile in HS? Actually, what was Hasay best mile in HS?
I believe that a 4:30 HS mile for a girl is the equivalent of a 4 minute HS mile for a boy. Alexa is getting very close to that...
This race makes it clear to any decent coach that NCAA competition will offer her nothing in a year, just as with Cain a year ago. She is ready to roll with the Big Girls right now. Both she (or her coach, at least) and Cain are now focused on steps leading onto the world stage. Cain is gunning for medals now and Alexa is hot on her heels. It's a new era entirely in women's distance running.
As to the trollwad above, if a 2:20/2:12, crowded race on tight track, and beating sub-4:30 pros/collegiates in one of the biggest indoor events of the season doesn't mean anything to you, then pity is the only salve I have for you.

You wanna bet?
Let's just hope that the coaches don't screw up their (Cain and Efraimson) development in the next few years. Fortunate to have two such talented HSers who will run for America. Cranny may not be all that far behind either - but is better off in the NCAA. Baxter is the long distance runner of the group, hopefully she comes out of College ready to move toward the marathon.
Any odds on events for World Juniors in the summer? - both in 1500m, if they double then Cain also in 800m and Alexa in 3000m. Shame to have to leave off a talent like Cranny - but she will likely be getting ready for freshman year XC anyway. I still think Baxter should do 5000m at worlds, it's in Eugene anyway, and really shouldn't affect her XC preparation.

Why is it hopeful for her to be ready to move to the marathon? Add some speed to her endurance and she would be fantastic at anything from 1500-10k.
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
