Alexa Efraimson--GREAT RACE

Agreed. Beating a former world #1, a college senior, and some other pros is pretty impressive (more so in a non-Cain world).

That race was all Mary Cain

Holy crap... this girl is only a junior. She will demolish Cain's records next year.

I thought Alexa's race was huge. Too bad the announcers didn't see it that way.

I'm also getting real tired of Mary Cain's interviews. That AlSal crowd is a funny bunch.

Mary Cain is overshadowing the awesomesauce that is Alexa.

Alexa (16) is running times right around what Cain ran as a 16 year old - although I still don't think Alexa can match Cain's top end speed.

Women's distance running is set for the next 10-15 years if these two ladies can keep improving. This has the potential to be a great rivalry as well.

Exactly. This Mary vs. Alexa crap really shows how immature many LR people are - they are both stars. Mary is ahead right now, but things sometimes change at that age, for either of them. Of course when they are running Genzebe Dibaba times in a few years, they will be ridiculed by the same crowd as dopers. Such is the cesspool that this site has become.

That's ridiculously good. I honestly didn't expect this much from her. Looking forward to seeing what she does over the next few years.

Are you kidding? Cain's interviews are the best part of the broadcast. The KID is refreshingly media savvy.

Her interviews remind me of a puppy dog jumping all over my lap kissing my face. Get down.

There's only a couple women in the country that can match Cain's end speed. Unrealistic to expect Efraimson to do that in her first big race. She's not faster than Yifter yet either.

Just re-watched the race, focusing on AE. With 400 to go, Cain jumped and took the lead pack with her. Alexa was briefly stuck behind Winslow (who beat her two weeks ago in the 3k) at that point, and a gap formed. Rather than throw in the towel, she methodically closed the gap, taking down Uceny (!) and almost getting Coburn.

Considering that she has never raced at this level before, that was absolutely phenomenal.

She has a faster time than any collegians, in a tactical race, age 16!!!

Anyone think the slow pace was an attempt to prevent Cain from losing Age 16 mile record to Efraimson? It seems like all this indoor season we've seen Moser out front early but she didn't push the pace at all this race.
