that's what great abour running - it doesn't care how successful or not you are in life, or how much money you have - the only thing that matters is how fast you are. you are ranked very clearly and definitively - you know EXACTLY who you are.

I think a "real" runner also appreciates anyone putting in the effort. Provided they are.

agreed - the quip about getting "worked" was all in good fun - he's running jv races - everyone gets worked there, its part of the process.

and good for him for running too.

but like i said before, its a cruel sport - no mattter what your effort maybe - you still always know where you rank. i run races now where i don't even approach the times i used to run, yet my effort is much greater. yet my time tells me exactly how good of a runner i am (not very good, but better than hailey joel.)

I realize I'm being anal here, but does anyone else find it annoying that his middle name is included in those results? I mean, isn't "Haley Osment" good enough? I can't think of the last time I saw a person's middle name listed in a running result.
