So I ran a 3:09 in NYC on Sunday which was highly disappointing and way below my ability level IMO.
It was only my 2nd marathon as I ran a 3:11 in Philly last year.
I knew it wasn't my day in NYC as I got a side stitch on mile 1 but decided to stick with my sub 3 game plan and came through the half in 1:28, basically starting the race with 5 even 5Ks before the legs cramped all over and I imploded until the last mile where I accelerated to salvage a PR.
I've run a 1:20 and 1:21 HM this year, along with several others in the 1:20's a 37:36 10K, run 50-60 MPW, and did my 20 mile training run in 2:20 with my 20th mile being my fastest.
I'm registered for the Philly half a week from Sunday (14days after NYC) and as long as I feel mostly recovered by next week I'm thinking of changing from the half to the full. The game plan this time would to be to go out in 1:31-1:32 and try to break 3:05.
Any predictions on how the Philly full would go if I choose to go that route as I don't see the point of running another 1:20 something half in my lat race of the year?
