screw what people think
no one cares or even knows you Solinsky
they think a 5k is for people who can't do a marathon

While he may have had no choice, this was the right decision. He needs to tend to this thing and get it right, lest he short-circuit his entire career. It was a major injury.
if you wanna cite threads, let's not forget
"Solinsky is finished"

you heard it here first. put that in ur pipe and smoke it
So now that The Games are out should he just get healthy and start shopping himself around for a big time marathon?

Agree. It's heartbreaking for him but it's the right thing to do. Hopefully he comes back next year really ready.
I think back to Marty Liquori - made '68 team at 19, but broke foot, then missed '72 & '76 due to other injuries despite great seasons in-between. There are no guarantees at that level.

You heard it here fist. Don't have an article just a giant gut feeling. After all you would think if he was running this year he would be spiking it up at Pre as a warmup to USA's. Season is too far along for him at this point to startup.
Wow, just woke up this morning and heard the news of him dropping out of the trials
You can delete my reply, but I still think its sucks that Sol is not able to run at his best.
OP, when will the world end?

24 hours after solinsky runs a 12:29 5k in zurich.

hey 18 second 100 pr gheyzer, he fell down a fehking flight of stairs and detached ligaments. that takes some serious time to heal, and he can't be going to the well running 1:53 the off of 11 minutes of 4:11 pace.
kudos to the OP. once again a message board poster scoops everyone, as in the vig story.
It is surprising to me that he hasn't recovered from a September surgery to be in good shape by May, so that must have been a long recovery. Is he really recovering or is there more surgery to come? It gets worrisome when athletes are not able to compete 7 months after an injury other than ACL or rotator cuff. I have no idea where the hatred for this guy comes from. He embodies all the incredible hard work and performance that this board wants. 12:55/26:59 AR and hatred. I don't get it. Good luck to him and I hope he runs 12:49 next year.
I described in many other posts, in many other threads, why that was B.S., and even if true, why it didn't matter.
Better safe than sorry! I think this, the decision to pull the plug on 2012, is kind of good news, since the injury was such a serious one that, for the sake of his career, he would want to be very cautious.
Negged
Not just the OP. Everybody on this board called it.
No the OP deserves a lot of credit because his specific prediction or gut feeling was correct. This is way different than saying "solinsky is finished". So kudos to the op.
I'm pretty sure it's all a ploy...

It was a ploy. IN FACT the OP IS Solinsky!
Sounds like the hamstring isn't holding up to speed work. Sol should think about a switch to the marathon. He could be Derek Clayton 2.0.
