If it's actually sunny outside, yes. But get them for the function and hang the style. Get cheap sunglasses so that when you lose them or step on them or whatever accident you'll end up in, it's not a big lost investment.

sunglasses + God + marathons = end of running career
It is your choice... many run with them, others hate them, and others put down people that wear them. I live in a windy area so I wear them to keep dust out of my eyes more than sun glare. To each his own.
Yay. They are great for disguising the anguish on your face when you start kicking with 400m to go in the 5K. In every photo it looks like I'm smiling instead of crying.
I consider sunglasses to be essentiall for running, my running anyway. Besides the sun, they are good at keeping dust, wind, bugs and other crap out of your eyes.
Get a pair that has replaceable lenses. It's cheaper in the long run to just replace the lenses than buy new sunglasses. Tifosi is a good option.
For years (30+) I never EVER wore sunglasses, but 2 yrs ago I decided to give it a try. Darned if I'm not a convert. I bought of light weight sunglasses made for running and/or biking. They dont bounce around or slide off my face.
I give them the thumbs up.
btw I'm usually a no frills runner. All I want is shoes, socks, underwear and shorts. but I have added the sunglasses as of late.. who knows maybe an iPod by the time I'm 60.
They prevent you front squinting (contracting un-necessary muscle groups)
They keep dust from blowing into your eyes when it's windy
They make you feel like a badass
What's not to like bout shades?
Got to rock the shades, especially if you wear contact lenses those damn things always dry out on windy days
UV light destroys your eye lenses. You are a runner and will spend thousands of hours running outside in the sun over your life. As you age, you lenses will become more rigid and you eye sight of lower quality. The UV from the sun exacerbates this.
All sunglasses will block 100% of the UV (acrylic plastic and BK7 glass both block the UVA and UVB). I thus always run in sunglasses. I also have clear glasses for running at dusk in the summer when there are a ton of bugs in the air. If you ever get an eye infection from a gnat, you'll gladly take this precaution.
Do we all realize we are responding to an advertisement? The fvcking swindy-bitch is just as likely to ask about a new skirt or a blender and post that same crap house as a place to buy it.
I only once ran in sunglasses and still got a fly in my eye. Then had to try to get it out while playing around with the blasted sunglasses - it was in a race as well
My Oakley Radars are the best purchase I have ever made. They keep sun, snow, dust, bugs, wind and anything else that does not belong in your eyes out. I highly encourage purchasing Oakley. Do not cheap out. The quality of Oakley sunglasses is amazing.

when it's hot and you're sweating, the salt from your sweat forms a film on the lens'. Same with water stops...water can splash up and cloud the surface of the lens. I've found it's often no use trying to use my singlet to clear the lens as it too has salt on the fabric.
Other than that, I agree sunglasses are good. I run with them on windy days and during the winter. I typically use a visor in the summer.
I say go for it. And my thinking about sunglasses has been to buy an expensive pair so that way you have more incentive to take care of them than you would if it was a $10 pair you picked up somewhere. I've had my pair of oakley half-jackets for almost four years and finally bought a pair of Minute 2.0s once i started college.
