I want to start training again, but all my old shorts have rotted. I'm not interested in running in baggy drawers, so give me some shopping suggestions for new gear. Thanks in advance.

Check out a pair of Mizuno Mustang shorts. Not too long, not too short. I like the 09 version better than what they have this year. But, great running shorts.
When BR started liquidating a couple years ago, I got a bunch of the split shorts. I love them. Unfortunately, a couple are losing their elasticity. Still have about a dozen pair to rotate. Definitely old school!!
Adidas running shorts are available in 3", 5", 7", and 9" inseam lengths. Take your pick.
I like the mavericks too but my new fav is
Saucony elite split short
Make u Look cool and like a fast runner but not too short
Thanks for the suggestions. Guess I've got a little homework to do.
Brooks has these nice 3.5 in split shorts ( can't recall the name). Nike has a 3 in. short called a Tempo short for men. Both are comfortable and cover enough without being baggy.
Please remember to wear rubber underpants just in case you lose bladder and/or bowel control.
I'm old, I ain't dying!
Check out those models mentioned above there
It all depends on how you like you shorts to fit. If you want longer shorts that go most of the way to your knee, you want a 7-9" inseam. Mid thigh is ~5-6". Once you go shorter than 5", you're firmly in the "short shorts" zone.
Also, certain brands will fit differently. Brooks and Saucony tend to fit baggy, Nike and asics are slightly less roomy, and comanies like Mizuno are going to be much trimmer. They're all good to run in, but they'll all fit you a little different.
Also, if you get a short that has an MSRP under $20, they're likely garbage. Price tags and name brand labels do mean something in terms of quality of design, workmanship, and materials used.
Look at the BOA Elite splits. Just like the ones that I ran in back in the '70's.
