You'd think he'd know something about football then.

Bump
Well, I hope he didn't end up picking West Ham.
Colorado Rapids FTW!
if you think the EPL is interesting soccer, then it doesn't matter who you root for. the teams are much the same--boring.
barcelona--by far the best, most beautiful soccer
epl = kick and run, exactly why english soccer will never be world class, and why england will never again win the world cup.

Are you serious??? Watching the EPL has made me fall in love with the sport. It's the best soccer around in terms of fluidity of the game scoring and competition. They hardly play kick and run at all. Despite the fact that only a few teams have ever won the EPL title the competition is still fantastic. German and French football is just pathetic (hence it is never on tv here). I can't stand trying to watch a serie A game to save my life, talk about boring. And in Spain the competition sucks. Barca look good because they are playing amateurs and Leo is the greatest player on the planet. Obviously there are a couple other class teams but please spare me some bull, no other team would survive relegation in the EPL. Don't get me started on MLS. After watching the EPL MLS is like watching a high school game. Talk about kick and run. EPL is where it's at.
Borussia Dortmund. Their fans are as religious as they can be, stadium is nearly always sold out (77,000 avg compared to capacity of 80,000), they played awesome soccer this season with a very young team (I think 21 or 22 avg age).
But what's most awesome about BVB is their stadium. Specifically the Sudtribune which fits 20,000 (standing) fans, making it Europes largest standing block. It's incredible steep and when you're in there the sound is just insane. Prices are moderate, you can get tickets for about 20 USD. Good luck trying to get tickets for Barca or ManU in that range.
And here is a mind-blowing pic of it:
That picture is amazing! How do they compare to big name teams? (competition and player name recognition-wise?)

Certainly a big name in the German Bundesliga. Won the Champions League in the 90's, 7 national championships including this years. Most famous player/best player this season was probably Nuri Sahin who will play for REAL MADRID next year. The team this year was not so much about stars but more about having a strong TEAM.

First team that came to mind. I'm a Leverkusen fan, but find the current BvB squad likable and entertaining. Klopp is pretty much awesome. So much young talent like you said, and probably one of the best defensive pairing in Europe with Hummels and Subotic. Götze will be a stud and Kagawa is great to watch. Not going to even touch on guys like Bender and Großkreutz. Sahin is already gone, but I'm looking forward to see how they fair in Europe next season.
Rereading that, I sound like a Dortmund fanboy.
The less talented Bender twin wrote:

I never liked Leverkusen for the obvious reasons - the same why I dislike Wolfsburg or Hoffenheim. However, they made some pretty good decisions in the past: Recruiting Heynckes as a coach or Ballack (I hope he will come back strong eventually). Also Calmund/Voeller/etc, quite a likable squad. Still, they'll never grow on me.
I hope Dortmund survives the CL group stage and then we'll see. They're not at a level where they can compete with Barca or Manu, but neither are Bayern or Bayer.
I really want to like your team. I'm going to try to catch a game or two of theirs sometime in the next 6 months.
Of the ones the OP listed, I like Liverpool and Arsenal, but I can't deny that I'm super interested in the young players that are going to be featuring at Chelsea next year (mceachran, sturridge, luiz)... if I find myself rooting for these three players to do well, won't I basically be rooting for the team to do well? I'm delighted to see Torres laughably fail. Does this counteract my desire to see the young guns at Chelsea do well?
Torres hasn't laughably failed, yet. Strikers take time to adapt to a new system, and the Chelsea offense will be restructured around him. I don't think you'll see much of Sturridge in a Chelsea shirt, not next season anyway.
McEachran looks like a fantastic talent but again I'm not sure how many games he'll get for Chelsea, a season on loan would be preferable.
Soccer is boring.
I'm constantly told how running is boring, I explain that you have to do it and understand it. Football has the added problem of requiring a high degree of coordination and technique to be able to take part at a decent standard. It also takes a lot out of your knees.
Football being the name of the game where the ball is predominently played with the foot.
Blackpool.
With a win over Man U this weekend they will remain in the EPL.
