Already a huge Irish national team supporter, but have always struggled to pick a club side to support. I might end up just continuing to watch good quality games and root for whomever in that match, but it's such a die hard thing, I feel like I want my own club.
Real Madrid - yea right
Barcelona - I LOVE that they don't allow corporate sponsors' names on the jersey, and they play gorgeous football with players from the "farm system" but I'm an EPL guy myself so let's move that way.
Man U: great history, love seeing guys like Giggs and Scholes who are there forever, real mainstays (Jeter and Rivera of the Yankees) and I love that they are willing to sell Ronaldo and it's a plus that a top 4 team is in lots of cup finals and bigger tournaments but I DESPISE alex ferguson and it's too easy to root for the best team.
Liverpool: Good before United were, have family overseas who support Liverpool but I like United's roster more than Livepool. They have a bunch of weirdos, couldn't keep Keane for one season, that rotation policy of Benitez is crap and this isn't the 70s and 80s anymore.
Chelsea: I made chelsea synonymous with the yankees in 2006 when Abromovich bought everyone and their mother, but now that same team is pretty much in tact and they are so fundamentally sound but it's still a horrible fan base (rich snobs) and I don't really like any of their players that much, outside of Ashley Cole who I think is tough as nails. I loved Makelele back when the had him. Never lost possession.
Arsenal: attractive football with whoever sticks around, Wenger is a genius. Only found myself rooting for them in 2006 when they played Barcelona in the champions league final. Ljumberg's last great performance before riding into the sunset and now the MLS and Henry backstabbing.
Man City: Dunne, Given, and Steven Ireland (nutcase but pure class) all on the same team but Dunne gets the axe and it's a storebought operation that makes me puke.
Aston Villa: exact opposite. O'neill takes everyone who is second string English national team or U-21 and challenges for top 4 until they get worn out. Great concept, never find myself caring much about their results though when I watch. No Irish guys on the team.
Everton: Poor David Moyes. Love him as a mainstay coach in the league, Tim Cahill is great, Lescott was great (selfish), could see myself supporting them just because it's not frontrunning but they aren't a bottom of the table side. same as villa.
West Ham: Love Hammers fans, their games can be LOUD. Probably couldn't name 3 or 4 players in the starting 11 though lol. Not seen on TV nearly as frequently.
sunderland: already tried supporting them when keane was manager and he had every Irish guy known to man on his team. Kenwyn Jones is the best target man not named Drogba in the league, but Keane is gone (no I don't want to support Ipswich) and that's that.
Newcastle: would be like rooting for the cubs except newcastle NEVER wins.
All bottom sides: either going to be in the championship next year so I never see them or I watch them put 10 men behind the ball and play for a draw and not get it out of their half of the field except on goal kicks.
Tottenham: Just something about them that I don't care much for. The partying incident before the last game of the season a few years back, Todd huddlestone (HATE him), whatever it might be.
Already a bit of a celtic supporter but let's face it, they aren't on TV nearly as much.
Well I talked this one out. Think I'll just watch the matches and leave it at that, unless you can convince me to come to your side.
