Ok just to get this out from the start - I'm from Illinois and think Chris Derrick will win Footlocker (and he and his team will win NTN - but that's a different thread).
So that said - the point of this thread is that Footlocker is going to be a showdown between the two studs from the two best CC states in the country - Chris Derrick from Illinois vs German Fernandez from California. Every one else is running for third.
What I don't understand is that all the hype now around Fernandez's 14:24 - yes it was a great time on a historic course. But it is almost identical to Derricks performance on just as historic of a course (maybe more historic).

Also you have to look at the spilts -
Derrick - 4:37.5, 4:38.9 (9:16.3), 4:35.5 - 13:51.8
Fernandez - 4:22, 4:50 (9:12), 4:43 - 13:55 *note I haven't seen official splits - and only read reports that he went out in 4:22 and through 3 miles in 13:55.
So I'm not saying it is going to be a cake walk for either - but it is going to be a 2 horse race. Two different styles...but Derrick and Fernandez are way ahead of anyone else.
Can't wait for Footlocker!
