and when has Plascencia got efforts this consistent from his guys? He's got waaayyy more talent than he's done anything with. Agreed that this is a good race, but he has yet to consistently race up to the potential for the guys he's recruiting.

How do the Michigan men tie Wisconsin at the regional and free-fall to 24th in the country while the Badgers finish a solid 5th? How does that happen? I'm betting the same answer would apply to the Michigan women who underperformed magnificently in 21st. Long drive home for the Wolverines.

High five to Kinsella. That takes some serious balls leading over the big names. After not racing at all in either track or xc in 2006, to come back with a top 10 in 2007 XC is amazing. His goal was top 30, and he definitely beat that. He is finally starting to have some consistent training and his potential is finally being realized. I can't wait to see him over the next few years and watch his transition to the marathon.

Arkansas is done. McD tried to slowly turn over the reins but it shows that there is no one there to take over his dynasty. It's sad to see, but it's obvious Arkansas will NEVER be what it once was. They have no guts on the team and no one willing to step up and race at the front. Todays race only went out in 15:08 for the first 5K. They should have had everyone there. Sad. McD should be ripping their a--es right now.

Well, Wisconsin was slightly better than 6th, they were 5th.

Out of the big 4 (Arkansas, Stanford, Wisconsin, Colorado) Wisconsin was the top finisher at 6th place! Wow. Looks like a new era of NCAA running.

you are a special person! 8th in the country is very respectable. torchia isnt transferring... and you cant beat any of the guys on the team. go gophers

and OK State ran tough as heck. But I am not surprised... they have ran like this in past years.

mmm, not saying 8th isn't good, saying we need more consistency from plas-coached teams before we start elevating him to wetmore-like status.

A few things surprised me:

1) The gap between the Ducks 5th and 6th men (Daniel Mercado @ 40th in 30:37 and AJ Acosta @ 146th in 31:26). The Ducks 1-2-3-4-5 men beat every other teams' 1-2-3-4-5. Two schools, Oklahoma State and Wisconsin, had their 6th man in before Oregon's. In a closer race those sixth men may make more of a difference. Could any of the other Ducks who were watching from the sideline had a better day? Vin making that right decision become so crucial.

2) Duck women beating Stanford through #s 1-2-3. Could next year be the turning of the tide?

My 3 surprises

1. Stanford men overall finish

2. Top woman from the west coast surprised me.

3. I thought Princeton women would have finished higher.

I don't think Arkansas is really an upset. They haven't really had a top 10 team all year; just a top 10 name. The best thing about the race was the Oregon guy's stache. It may rank in the top 5 running staches of all time.

I defy you to find a better performance than that.

Alabama's 5th man bombing... take 100 places off his finish and Alabama ties for 3rd. Wow.

Big eye-opening performances for me were David Kinsella and Oklahoma State. Great runs.

great job by the UT coach getting Manzano's undertrained, raw talent to run 10K at such a high level while also keeping him healthy

Not bad for a guy that couldn't beat the ACU guys in the Lone Star Conference last year!
