Predictions?
Even if he runs well, I don't see him breaking it. I'll predict a 7:22 out of KB. Also, 7:34 for Solinsky and 7:35 for Teg.

The start list says Gary Reed and Bernard Lagat (among others) will contest at 1k. Very interesting.
if you read carefully you`ll see that he`s going for the stadium record (should be easy for him)
If hicham elguerrouj who hold an unbelieavable world record for 2k couldnt break it in his prime, he run 7:23 (which is the second best performance of all times in the 3k) i really dont see bekele breaking it..

thank you for pointing that out, I am an idiot.
assuming he has pacers, i'll keep the predictions the same.
and I agree with the other poster that the 1k should be really exciting
Fast race: 7.35.44
Slow tactical race: 7.37.12
a doped up kenyan with blood full of epo and stimulants, raised at altitude on home grown food, amazingly mentally tough, genes related to numerous internationals, full of piss and vinegar of youth, something to prove....this record will stand for a long, long time...
if you had any class at all, you would drop the first phrase of your sentence
typo: fast race 7.25.44
apologies, that was not called for. I actually really liked the way you described komen, but you undid all that with your first words. bit contradictory, and a bit judgemental, but i shouldn't have commented like that.

Of course, a primitive african can´t possibly run 10 seconds faster than the record set by a technologically advanced, sophisticated white american.
Beke is 7.25 man, not 7.19. So Komens record is still out of even near touch.
Well said. Komen was a freak. No illegal substances required. KB could go close though. He is in great form. He will need everthing to perfectly to give it a shake. Realistically, anything under 7:26 would be outstanding.
Looks like the weather conditions are going to be excellent tomorrow sunny and no wind.
7.24 and a fat diamond for breaking the stadium record.
