I left on Thursday to work a junior olympic meet and returned on Sunday night to find ants all over my kitchen counters. The thing is, there is nothing for them to eat. There is a huge trail of them outside heading in the front door and continues to the kitchen, but when they get there, they just seem to run around in circles with nothing to do. None of them are carrying any food. I took out the garbage before I left, did up any laundry, and had very little food in the house. Most of it is in the refrigerator anyway. Those bastards are just blindly following a trail left by some ant that didn't have a f**king clue! I have been smashing them and vacuuming them for two days and I haven't made a dent in their numbers. I put out traps and they just walked around them so ... and I'm starting to regret having done this ... I put some food crumbs on and in the traps to make sure they got into them. I went out for the day, came back, and HOLY S**T did I have ants! There are at least 20 times as many as before. Supposedly they take the poison from the traps back to the nest and kill the colony but it sure isn't working yet.
Please, anybody with any suggestions that might help, fire away! I even took my vacuum cleaner outside and started vacuuming up the ones that weren't inside yet, hoping that if I could "break the trail" they follwers might not make it inside. Nope.
