The only biggie she's missing for medals is a world cross gold. That one eluded her.

That was when the 10k runners had to run a semi and then a final in the space of a week in crappy conditions, too. 2 10k's in a week. Ugh.

That's on the track, it isn't a "10k".
i'm sure most people with an ounce of intelligence know that the 10,000m and 10k are inter-changeable.
The k or km is equal to 1,000. Thus 10,000m and 10k are the same distance.
I have run several 10ks on the track.
in terms of titles liz is better than paula
Yes, but the difference in venue and surface is denoted by the units used. Look up ANY official results from an officially sanctioned meet (college, USATF, IAAF) and you'll never see it categorized as a "10k", only as "10,000m". Most people with an ounce of intelligence may know the distances are the same, but they may not have enough experience in the sport to know that it's a faux pas (lazy or uninformed) to use them interchangably for track races. It's like calling the spherical implement used in the throws a "shot put" rather than what it really is, a "shot".
whatever
Figures.

There was a World Champs 10k in 1991? How did I miss that?
You know damn well that the reference to the 10k in the 91 world champs meant a 10,000m track race - as did everyone else with a passing knowledge of the sport. Stop trying to be clever.
I am not a great fan of McColgan as she does seem to hog the limelight for herself even when meant to be promoting the sport for SAF however she has thrown down some impressive performances over the years.
Can't recall if she was World Record holder for 10k on the roads at one time as Liz Lynch. May have been established in Bali for all I know

How many times are you going to reply to the same message post? How about you start trying to be clever first? Sorry, I really didn't immediately remember what McColgan won in 1991, I'm not that into her career. It is funny that you implied that talent is something that can be lost.
Does anyone know if a video of the 91 10,000m final from Tokyo exists? It's supposed to be one of the classic performances.

I have it on tape.

And if the poster had been writing an official results book, that might even matter!
But since everybody knew exactly what was meant, does anyone (besides anal-retentives such as yourself) actually care?
(That was actually a rhetorical question. The answer is: no)

Three years in a row (87-89) she set a new world record at Red Lobster 10K in Orlando, FL. Went 31:07, 30:59, and 30:38. She was only trying to take a few seconds off each year to get a $25,000 or so bonus. The third year she went too fast, and destroyed the record. She even jogged the last 100 meters or so.
I've met Liz and Peter several times and they're good people. Liz is a bit highly strung, but how does that make her any different from most world class athletes. When she was running competitively she had a drive and a focus that made everything else unimportant, including being nice to the press or trying to paint a nice public image for herself. All she wanted to do was win and anything that distracted her from that was "the enemy" including friends and family at times.
She coaching kids now...most notable her own who is a British champion.
People should stop comparing her to Paula Radcliffe. She never had Paula's disarming charm, but she could definitely match all pf PR's drive and determination and I'd go as far as to say she was a more ruthless and hungry runner.
who cares what she looks like?
She is one of the sports greats.
she coaches me, ime 15 and run 1:56 and 4:03 she is a great coach
You're a lucky kid.
i know.
How did u meet peter and liz?
They are possibly the funniest, most lovable and down to earth people i have ever met. so many people have the wrong opinion of her.
