What weight?
i predict de la hoya makes up an excuse to pull out again.
looks like its gonna be at 154. i think this works to de la hoyas advantage as mayweather is gonna lose most of his speed going up so high in weight. de la hoya should take it on points.
they're both just ducking the hit man. Ricky will smoke them both at the same time
i would like to see ricky hatton fight antonio margarito in a cant miss action fight and the winner can get boxed silly by mayweather after de la hoya pulls out of the mayweather fight. but hatton is scheduled to be going back down to 140 pounds.
I've been in the ring and sparred with better (but smaller) fighters, only to easily take it to them. A small man's effectiveness is badly reduced when the big man has no respect for his punch and what he does. There's no threat. Floyd's only hope is to razzle-dazzle DLH, and IMO DLH is too good for that. Floyd's better and more talented, but a smaller guy usually has to dominate the boxing end to beat a much bigger fighter (Jones-Ruiz, Spinks-faded Holmes). I think Floyd will win some rounds, but DLH will hit him, and when he does, he'll hurt and finish him. My only reservation, is despite the size, DLH's listed reach (73 inches) is only 1 inch more than Mayweather's (72 inches).
haha hatton isnt even in the same league as mayeather. did you even bother to watch the collazo fight? if he gets beat up by that chump what do you think PBF would do to him?
yea i agree, DLH may just be too big, no way he knocks out mayweather though. hes too slick.
i'm excited, pound for pound mayweather is better, but he will have to put on some weight to win his 5th weight class title...that may or may not hurt him. good fight for sure.

I'm surprised to see this. Do people even care about boxing anymore?
and what track and field is more popular?
The best pound for pound fighter faces one of the most popular fighters in the last twenty years. I'd say people will take notice.
What are the chances Larry Merchant will slur his words and act drunk again?
ttc,
That is an interesting post. Do you think that when Floyd gains 7# he will be stronger and able to hit harder ? I recall when Floyd had to drop down in weight he felt weaker and felt he could not punch as hard. Interesting when you put that together with your sparring story.
Even at 147, he is a pretty hard hitter. It's not like the punches will bounce off DLH as if he were a heavyweight.
I think it will be an incredibly even matchup. I wonder if the Golden Boy is really on the way down, or just got lazy for his last few consecutive defeats. It may well be a Floyd blowout but I think both will come to the ring as well prepared as they ever have been in their lives.
My reservation will be the Reyes gloves. Floyd's hands are fricken brittle. He must have gotten his mother's hands. He will be unable to touch the bag for a while after his last fight a couple weeks back. Said it was the worst mid-fight pain he ever had.
Anemic out.
My guess is Floyd won't gain the full 7 lbs to 154, but instead stay around 150-151. He'll gain some strength, but not enough to get DLH's respect, who KO'd Vargas, and for 9 rounds stood in front of Hopkins. FLoyd also doesn't punch that hard. He's gotten his TKO's from being accurate and landing many punches. When you're not so worried about the other person's KO power, it allows you to execute your offense better and throw the punches you want to throw, without letting the other guy do so much dictating. DLH is also one of the best boxers after Floyd and won't be the punching bag the others were.
DLH will hit Floyd sometime during the fight, and if he could hurt Vargas with 1 punch, then he'll severly damage Floyd. But if I'm wrong, and Floyd CAN take DLH's punches, then Floyd will win in Mosely-DLH I fashion, except more dominating.
whoa whoa whoa, he may have been in 9 rounds with hopkins, but he got absolutely crushed in that fight, it was just to much of a step up for DLH.
Personally, Floyd is faster than DLH (he's getting a bit older and slowing down). I'm glad DLH is at a weight class thats more his style, but I don't think he'll be able handle the speed of Floyd. I'm saying the fight goes the distance with floyd winning by 2 or 3 rounds.
Its going to be a good fight.

I know DLH got crushed at the end. But anyone strong enough to stand in front of Hopkins for 9 rounds, no matter how it ends, will be too strong for Mayweather, as I see it. While still sticking with DLH, Floyd's speed will be tough. But the fact DLH can go right through him will make it a different circumstance than when he fought Mosely.
Mayweather in 12, easily.
