High Fructose Corn Syrup is part of a diabolical plot by Satan to weaken this once great nation by poisoning the food supply with a toxin, which is causing obesity epidemic to destroy the health of the young and old.
I could improve the sentence structure in various ways, but to answer the question, no not goofy, although if someone with no sense of humor or blind to the girth of a majority of Americans, then the statement may seem nonsensical.
This is closest to the practical answer. HFCS is typically 55/45 fructose/glucose while table sugar is 50/50, so it’s a difference without a real distinction.
All carbs are broken down into sugars in the body, so sugar itself is just carbs and isn’t bad in absolute, but bad only if consumed excessively in its refined form as opposed to whole grain or fruit etc.
100 calories of HFCS is no better or worse for you than 100 calories of cane sugar. The issue is really just that HFCS makes it cheaper to add lots of sugar to products, so instead of consuming 100 calories of cane sugar, people end up consuming 130 calories of HFCS because it's cheap to make drinks sweeter.

TMADDD, "humor" is not really what you do. Maybe you have a good side IRL, but on here you are smug, preachy and humorless. You're not witty, you're not funny.
Not trying to be funny when it comes to the decline of physical and mental health of a large percentage of Americans. The following institutions are all partly responsible for many of the health issues facing a large swath of the population:

Subliminal messaging imbedded in Advertising campaigns along with Marxist ideology propagated by Academia to undermine the integrity of family unit as the strength of the American Republic began in the 1920’s. Fluoridation of the water supply, drug culture, yippies, hippies, and the spread of heretical beliefs all have led to a steady decline of the fabric of institutional wholesomeness.
