A reminder to everybody: You are not your job. Dwayne Haskins was somebody's son, partner, homie, teammate. And he was also a human being. At my buddy Ed's memorial, we only talked about how he had made us feel. My heart goes out to the folks with those memories of Haskins today.
Miguel Mena, one of the most successful jockeys in Churchill Downs history, was killed in a pedestrian accident in Louisville, Kentucky on Sunday night, just six days from his 35th birthday, the racetrack said in a statement...
I've seen no information on a motorcycle or running out of gas in any of the news reports. Has anyone seen a link on that? Where did that story come from?
New information has surfaced. A guy saw him in the right hand lane and called 911 at 6:31am. He moved into the left lane and passed him. The report of the accident came in at 6:37am. You can listen to the interview with the caller here.
Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Dwayne Haskins, 24, was struck and killed by a dump truck in Broward County on Saturday morning. According to Florida Highway Patrol, Haskins was attempting to cross the westbound lanes of I-59...
Not for the OP: what is the lure of rumors or just making crap up. People attributing his death to being drunk, running out of gas, CTE, being suicidal, etc. Yes I am curious about what led to his death. But to post conjecture is just wrong.

Give me one good reason he would be walking across a busy freeway at 6:30 AM if not for one of the following:
Being drunk CTE Running out of gas Being suicidal
It might not be fair to speculate, but it was likely one of those.
This guy had so much going on for him - NFL Quarterback, tons of money not having to worry about paying the bills, fans, good health and he throws it all away to get boozed up, high, and "in the company of" an unnamed women, even though he had been married only about a year.
I read today his BAC was .24 and also had ketamine in his system. Ouch.
My level of sympathy for him just dropped to zero. Any time I hear about someone driving drunk, I have no pity, since they are as apt to take someone else's life as their own. I had a cousin killed by a drunk driver (who was on his 4th offense). The only person I feel sorry for is the dump truck driver who has to live with the PTSD from having hit the guy. This is another example of why it is important to wait for all of the facts before reaching a conclusion.

You seem to believe your familial lose gives you credibility. We don't need emotional people attempting to guide and influence public policy. Journalists and politicians like to insert person connections into narratives they are pushing. Anecdotal stories, from a public policy actually weaken your argument. We need social scientists presenting statistical analysis, not people offering personal stories.

Do you think the statistical analysis presented by social scientists would lead to any other conclusion than that driving while drunk is a choice that needlessly puts other people's lives at risk?
