To be fair, that's because at conference you need lots of points across all events. At NCAAs, you only need a handful of athletes in a few events to score big.

They lost. It was stupid and arrogant on their part. I now hope they don't win nationals.
Sounds about right. Why would any team not want to win their conference race?

No sh!t I’m salty. What if my team doesn’t get in and SUU does after doing jack squat the entire year? You can best believe I’ll be pissed off.
SUU is a great team. They were right in the mix at the OK state invitational in October. They're a very good team and should be at nationals even without this W.

Says who? Teams get the number 1 seed all the time after losing their conference tournament. You sound incredibly bitter
If Gonzaga lost their conference tournament there is no way in hell they are still a one seed. I suggest you look and see who’s in their conference. If Michigan lost to Ohio State, then obviously nothing would change.
Lol no. BYU has an excellent basketball team this year, likely a 7 seed for the big dance. Gonzaga would absolutely not lose the #1 seed for losing to a very good team in the conf tourney whom they've already clobbered twice this year.
Just responding to all those who keep taking a crap on the Big Sky conference. If you don't have some respect for the Big Sky then you don't follow the sport well enough. This conference is likely better than 2 or 3 REGIONS in the NCAA.
NAU wins NCAAs almost every year
SUU has been as high as #11 recently and is almost always top 25
Now you have teams like Weber who finished, what, 1 point? off of a similar-strength BYU squad last fall? On the right day could be at NCAAs this year. Had a guy finish #14 last fall at NCAA XC.
Montana St who has had multiple sub-4 milers recently and sub 14 guys and are legitimately a top 50 team this year
Then there's always a collection of other high level individuals from the other schools like Idaho State, Eastern Washington, Idaho, etc.
Given the size of the schools and the lack of "revenue-sport" success, it's a very strong conference, which is evident by one of the greatest dynasties in NCAA XC letting their guard down for a minute and paying the price.
Most of those schools have the draw of high altitude training. Which helps in recruiting and training. Considering that they should actually be much better as a whole at a niche sport like cross country. Thus why I’m not shocked that SU at nearly 6 thousand feet altitude is getting talented recruits that respond to the altitude despite not being an little school.

SUU finishes in 9th place today! Not too shabby!!

Yeah they shut my @ss up. Ran absolutely phenomenally. Got a good coach too.
Yeah SUU is a historically good team, but people are always hating on Utah running for some reason. Truth is Utah easily has the best running success/talent per capita in the country.
Weber probably should have been at the meet too, let's be honest

I’m the last person to hate on Utah based teams, for undisclosed reasons. I just didn’t believe SUU was very good based on early season meets. They proved me wrong.
Utah and Oregon I should say. But Utah recently has been pumping out lots of top american athletes and a disproportionate amount of top hs and college teams every year for over a decade now.
SUU went on to take 9th at that nationals, two weeks after that conference meet NAU threw. Just interested, what team was your team @tuccone user? Your comments went home devastated, big dummy
