Assuming a 40 hours week, this totals to about 30K a year.
The median income for a male in the US is 57K and for a female it is 47K. In general, it is not much, but your mileage may vary depending on where you live.
It doesn't help sales when you add labor costs to retail items.
If you want bto make a $15/hr min wage then you have to:
Set a max % for the Mall Fee
Set a max % for Franchise fee to McDonalds, etc.
Set a max % for the delivery fee to Doordash, etc.
Eliminate State Sales taxes, City Taxes, etc.
Then small business owners can make enough to stay in business and not close permanently.

you really think the people making $16-20 an hour aren't going to see a bump?

I wonder what happens to sales when millions of potential customers suddenly have more disposable income.
Neither.

Agreed. Businesses aren’t taking losses because payroll went up. They will pass it on to the consumers, which will negatively effect everyone, plus they will look at cutting positions which negatively efffects those minimum wage workers. But it sounds good to liberals and everyone wins and we all have plenty of money. Keep dreaming.

This is proven many times wrong.
Higher minimum wages create more business. Because these people will spend pretty much everything they earn. Which is not true for the upper 10%.
The Dems ain't gonna pass a $15 minimum wage.
Nor the Covid 2,000 check,
Not healthcare for all.
No college debt relief either.
They will have time to bomb Syria.
It's all a Big Lie

Right!!! if we could only cut wages to $1 an hour....prices would plumettt! We'd ALL be better off!!!!!
laughing at fools like this that don't realize that the game is up and people aren't buying this BS anymore. the US just went through a decades long period of unprecedented wealth growth and most people are no better off.
We're done believing this load of crap.
'Kill your grandparents !!! Save the DOW!!' ...this pathetic line of thinking has been exposed.....

Probably right. That's why I voted TRUMP
No one had addressed the original question
Does this help the middle class

Many of us addressed the question. No it does not.
Were one of the best, looking at the stats.
yup, slotting right in there after all the First World countries.
It will be great for the people who still have jobs and weren't fired due to budget cuts. Maybe.
Just kidding, it won't and the Dems won't be raising the federal minimum wage anyways, that's just a fairy tale they like to tell their gullible, easily-bought cultists in order to secure votes.
Doesn’t help middle class, hurts them. Hurts lower class as well in the long run though short term some small percentage of people will make slightly more. The reality is minimum wage jobs aren’t meant to be and aren’t long term careers. Very few people stay in minimum wage jobs. They advance out of them or they were holdover or early (hs, college, part time employment in addition to other work).
This is pandering, no more no less. Same as student loan debt payoff promises. Just using your tax dollars to buy votes. Per DC usual.

lol.....oh...i see....so all those people making under $15 an hour now are just working jobs they weren't meant to be working. Got it!
So looks like the only harm in raising the min wage will be the loss of jobs for people who don't really need them anyway...high school part-timers.......so lets do it!!
