Huh, it’s a pretty first world practice to go for dental cleaning and checkups every few months. Most of the world goes to a dentist only to fix a problem, not for “maintenance”.
For me, it's been ages since I've been, too, probably close to a decade. The thought of those sharp tools poking around in my mouth is enough to make anyone nervous! But hey, as long as we're keeping up with our oral hygiene at home, we're doing our part, right? Plus, it's not like we're alone in this - plenty of folks have a similar aversion to the dentist's chair. Speaking of which, as a parent myself, I stumbled upon this setup that's been a real lifesaver for my little ones.
Always got problems after I visited the dentist, they get you into their loop. Took me about 20 years to find out dentists exaggerate and lie for 85% of time, they practically ruined my teeth. Commercial bstrds, always looking for a job to be done.
Eat healthy, be healthy and keep it ultra clean 2x a day than check up once in 5 years is more than enough.
I go twice a year, but when I turn seventy or so I'm going to throttle back & just coast my remaining years on the work I've put in to keep them in top shape
I put it off for 10 years until I had chronic toothache, and the tooth had to be extracted. The dentist told me it could have been saved if I had gone earlier. Never getting that tooth back again and now chewing and eating feels different. Nothing other than losing your hair makes your feel as old as losing your teeth.
I go every 6 months. I have no fear. It is one medical appointment that I thoroughly enjoy.
I just went today. It was uneventful, but I'd never say it's enjoyable. I don't know how you'd enjoy the gum poking/stabbing.
I have healthy gumbs and teeth. If you keep up with your semi-annual check ups, there is little to no discomfort. Plus, the clean feel of teeth and mouth after the cleaning is fantastic.
About 8 years. Last time I went the dentist was horrible. At the time I was 20 and had never had a cavity but maybe I hadn't taken the very best care of my teeth in the months prior. She caused me loads of pain, made me bleed loads stabbing my gums and was just criticising me throughout for bleeding, for having plaque etc. I'm pretty convinced a lot of what they do and reccomend is superfluous and some of them give completely incorrect advice (my girlfriend has been told to brush immediately after every meal).
I know it's long overdue that I go again, but I'm pretty convinced that some dentists insist on doing work which is unnecessary and causes futher problems down the line which I'm very keen to avoid.
My brother once got told he needed a cavity filled and to come back in a few days to get it done. He read about teeth, about de- and re-mineralisation. He worked hard to remineralise over those few days and when he went back to the dentist, they couldn't find the cavity and said he didn't need the filling anymore.
They can only re-mineralize successfully with fluoride if they are small to begin with. If you are not flossing and not brushing regularly, you will get inflammation in your gum tissue due to bacteria and over time will get bone loss in the bones that anchor your teeth (gingivitis eventually becoming periodontal disease). Eventually you will not have enough bone around the teeth to anchor them in place and you will lose your teeth (not to mention awful breath). It's not the dentists fault that your gums were inflamed and were bleeding, it is your fault for neglecting your personal hygiene. check out here the best dentist. Take care of your teeth and get regular cleanings and this won't be an issue.
Untill last year, I had not been to a dentist in 22 years :scared: I had 4 teeth removed and didnt go back to have a few fillings done..............oh to turn the clock back!!!
