In the intros you could see them talking. Wouldn’t shock me if they both wanted a fast time and agreed to share pacing duties. Grant took over for 600 meters when the pacers dropped then Cole took over for a bit and race for the win. But who knows.
every runner in that 3K got a PB (except Stewart McSweyn) even Sean McGorty who finished last got a PB. everyone in that race owes Grant and Cole a beer.
Stupid race by Hocker. A little too over confident, which cost him an easy win.
This is so clueless, no "easy win" at world record pace. At these speeds you are not guaranteed a bursting kick. I trust his gauge more than yours so going to the lead to be in better position on a short track was not stupid. Also he's smart enough to not underestimate Grant's kick unlike you. Grant kicked to 2 medals last year. He's no slouch in races where everyone is stretched to their limits.
He also ran that in heat (90 degrees) and wind. Fisher and Hocker got perfect conditions today. Jakob would have ran 7:14-7:15 today. We know this because Fisher ran 7:40 in Silesia.
