This may be weird, but excellent job from the pacer. Alvarado legit paced Goose sooo well. He was about 1.5-2 strides ahead of goose for several laps and set him up for a great final finish. He was monitoring and increased speed when necessary to keep that pace nice and hot. Goose was hungry but I think Alvarado was real nice in the set up for him and Kessler.
Yesterday we had two Americans get World Records, in two different events! Both of those events an additional American was under the previous world record as well. We also saw in the 800 a National Record! What a day for US distance running. I have one issue. The announcers. They just saw 4 Americans under previous World Records and a NR, and they were basically like “Nuguse/Fisher just got a World Record!…….anyways”. See the link below from when Billy Mills won gold medal. If the announcers don’t act like they care, how is the regular Joe that just turned it on to see going to care about what they just saw. Or look at when Solinsky broke 27. The Flotrack boys were on fire that night. I may not like their business model since they’ve changed it, but those boys back in the early 00’s knew how to announce a track meet.
Couldn’t have happened to a better guy. Yared is one of the most beloved figures in the sport, super chill, authentic, happy guy who is also extremely ambitious and competitive. Give this man his flowers!

It’s always interesting how people can see/hear the same thing and have extremely different opinions. I thought the Flotrack boys for that race were amateurish and irritating.
No disrespect meant to any competitor, but that track is making the times faster.
That’s a given. Along with the fact that many aren’t getting caught
Yea very fair. They were at the time, but they definitely had more energy than what we saw yesterday. I get they need to be more professional since it is on broadcast, but there was such a lack of energy. Did anyone witness this inside the Armory? How was the fieldhouse announcer?
Kessler is the future. He should be at or near his peak in 2028. I don’t know if he’ll ever have an Olympic gold or any medal, but I fully expect him to own the outdoor AR when it’s all said and done. He’s the only current American miler who is probably capable of a sub-1:43 800. He may very well go 3:45 in the mile this year if he runs one.

there is no indication of Hocker and Goose 800 potential.
if they happen to open in 145, that will mean little except it is a good opener.
it can take a bit to get used to 50 to 52 pace after focusing on 55 to 57 pace.
not doing specific work and training thru, what are you trying to prove??
that said , in one of those perfect races on yhe fast track, suddenly hocker and goose hit the obvious 143 that they can do. and everybody is shocked.
those run of the mill 146 800s are already 144 in the perfect scenario.
jacob i have at 144. though hed need like 6 weeks of specific work.
I remember saying/writing in 2021: "Hocker and Kessler are goin to be a threat to Webb's 3:46.91 in the future. They have the potential to break it." Today that happened. Kessler did 3:46.90 and is now 2nd on the all time American list. 3:46.9 indoor is obviously better than 3:46.9 outdoor, I know. Also, Myers did a fantastic run with 3:47.48. He's the fastest junior in history (indoor AND outdoor). Reynold Cheruiyot did 3:48.06 (outdoor) in 2023.
(I wasn't too familiar with Nuguse back in 2021)
So you only focused on the white guys is what you're saying? Good writing there.
It’s refreshing, but not entirely realistic or “believable”. He’s in a cutthroat competitive arena…he SHOULD flex his ego a little more, even if only for entertainment…but nobody should have to remind him of all that his job entails OUTSIDE of winning.
