It seems you believe Bernard Lagat as an american as well. Lagat was 30 when he joined USA, it seems in Kenya he knew he wasn't going to have as big of an impact so he decided to just take advantage of a weak system here in the United States. Same with many Kenyans it seems.
On top of that, what does this have to do with the Constitution? America wasn't a Country then but....247 years later it is. Lagat or Chelimo are not americans, they're Kenyan by birth and nurture. They just prove that our team is so pathetic that we need to recruit Africans to win for us.
Lagat has won global medals for both the US and Kenya. He does not need a weak system. He went to college here so it's sort of commonplace to just stick around and apply for citizenship after you've built a life here. It takes at least 7 years so not his choice to join team USA only when old. His wife is American. At this point, he has lived in America longer than anywhere else. A lot of Americans are hyphenated in culture—that's supposed to be what makes America exceptional. You're not identified by one national ethnicity.

He's also not qualified in the 10,000m so he doesn't really have a spot to 'give up'. Grant is the next one in, but he may not even run. It's possible we only have two guys running the 10,000m in budapest. I don't see McGorty running the standard in the 10,000m in the next couple weeks, I think he'll go all in trying to be on the 5,000m team.

Paul Chelimo has an Olympic silver medal, an Olympic bronze medal, and a WC bronze medal, all for the 5,000m.

If you wanna get technical, Centro 1x, Rupp 1x, and Manzano all medaled more than a decade ago. That said, I think this year's team shows the depth the US has right now. Nur is in ~12:50 shape, Chelimo could break 13 if he had a race like the other guys did (and has won 2 oly medals), and McGorty was the only guy to pull off both teams. I think if Klecker wasn't so focused on Kincaid, he'd have been on the team instead, but it's hard to complain about it.
Even if this race was run first I think Nur would've won anyway. Did you see how he crushed everyone in the country, then saw Chelimo gaining on him and still had another gear? I wanna see him in a DL to know where he stacks up with the best in the world, but he's certainly a big level up from last year, and last year he was 11th in the final. Top 5 wouldn't shock me this year.

Nuguse just got 3rd in 3:29.02 in Oslo in what was basically the Worlds field. And he outkicked Waskom and matched Hocker’s kick at USAs. Not sure what else you want to see from him.
