Any Mike Smith Training insights???

What else?
if training at 7000 was all it took NAU would have XC Championships going back to the 1970's and every runner who ever trained there would be an Olympic gold medal winner.
yet the NAU dynasty and culture really didn't start until Smith took over. before him NAU was kinda like Gonzaga is to college basketball. a talented small school in a small conference always at the edges of greatness but rarely getting there.
then Smith arrives and it all changes. he also built the women's team from scratch and now they're in the conversation to win a national title. not to mention all the pro runners he trains who are having amazing success.
beginning to think 'altitude' is just a tiny part of his overall training method. ya think?
