Scott got a big win while Kim Smith was an impressive 3rd in her first track race in 3 years. Ahead of Fernandez, Leonard Korir (27:58) just beat Shadrack Kipchirchir while Laura Thweatt and Paul Chelimo also picked up victories.

A highlight will be the women's 5000 which has New Zealand's Kim Smith, Dominique Scott and former NCAA champ Emma Bates. This week we also catch up with coaching legends Frank Gagliano and Ron Warhurst, talk about abolishing the US Olympic Trials and wonder if the Russian doping scandal resulted in a murder.

Former World Champs 5000 5th placer Buze Diriba, former All-American Aliphine Tuliamuk-Bolton and former US marathon champ Esther Atkins (Erb) lead women's field.

Tabor Stevens, the NCAA XC champ and fastest American collegiate steepler last year, got a big win, so did German Fernandez, and Michael O'Hara got four of them. More track action, coaching advice, and a chance encounter with Geoffrey Kamworor in the airport which reminded us of Paul Tergat and Moses Tanui meeting President Bush.

Shalane Flanagan showed she's ready for Boston, Gabriele Grunewald got a nice pr and win in the 5000m, Sam Stabler of Lamar had the breakthrough of the meet in the 5000m, Oliver Aitchison showed he's becoming a force at 1500m,  German Fernandez got a much needed win and Erin Teschuk got some attention.

Ryan Hill went 25.77 the final lap to win his first "real" national title over Ben Blankenship and Evan Jager.

Nike Oregon Project's Cam Levins had an off day and the rival Bowerman Track Club's Lopez Lomong and Ryan Hill were glad to pick up the slack going 1-2 in the men's 5000m. German Fernandez DNFd as he was having a terrible day and going to get lapped.

Stanford's Elise Cranny was 4th in the 1000 (2:42.39). In other action Mary Cain was 4th in the 600 (1:30.03) and then won the 800 (2:07.21),  German Fernandez was 2nd in the 3000 (8:04.59). Pros Andy Bayer, German Fernandez, Phoebe Wright, Geena Lara also competed.

The Eugene Register-Guard does some good journalism on the Worlds 2019 bid, the Foot Locker Final fields are almost set, some guy runs 1:45 in December, Andrew Wheating runs 13:59, and the Olympic mascots are here.

41-year-old Deena Kastor broke the master's world record at the half marathon, German Fernandez is back ran well, Paula Radcliffe is back racing,  and so is Andrew Wheating. Plus, some coaching advice from Caleb Ndiku and news on a new star in the American high school ranks.

Huddle won by 15-seconds over Jordan Hasay in second; Mary Cain was back in 6th (15:53). Estrada won in a kick of German Fernandez (13:57.0) and Maverick Darling (13:57.5). Matt Centrowitz was 7th in 14:03.2.

Also in the field will be Evan Jager, German Fernandez and Cam Levins.
