Aaron Brown and Munyai DQ!!!
Aaron Brown and Munyai DQ!!!
Crouser back on the BBC hoping they "will do the right thing and make the right call."
He's hoping for a side angle that will clearly show he didn't step on the back. I highly doubt there is a camera angle no one has seen at this point.
In my mind, the competition is over. He lost. The medals have been handed out.
It's a judgement call. Nothing that I see in that tweet makes it obvious that he didn't step on the back - or am I missing something??
Being a non-thrower, I'd think moving forward they should either put like have 10 cameras on that baby and allow video replay or stop calling touch fouls. One or the other.
Any throws experts have an opinion?

Honest effort rules are so stupid. "you decided to conserve energy for another race, Shame on you, DQ." What, why? Why is that a thing. If you don't want to run an event, you should be allowed to not run an event. In swimming you see that all the time. You can Scratch from the heats, semi, and final, or get a DFS, or Declared False Start, which mans you didn't show up. Though this is considered rude if you do it in the semis of final as you deny someone else a spot in the semi or final. These aren't middle scholars, thee are professional athletes. You don't need sportsmanship rules.
Wlodarczyk, who has been the heavy favorite for the hammer throw, being close to her WR this year, which is far beyond what anyone else in the field can do, is struggling. What is up with these world championships?
Food poisoning in the UK? Sounds unlikely.

Big news in the 200. Aaron Brown and Munyai have been DQd. Please tell me why? I just watched a replay and don't see an infraction.

pretty sure they said lane infringement
Munyai looked like he might have done on the home straight. Hard to tell from a side angle.
Did Shamier Little break the 8th hurdle?

You don't get DQd if you step on the outside of your lane. There is no infraction worthy of a DQ.
Rule below.
Lane Infringement
3. (a) in all races run in lanes, each athlete shall keep within his
allocated lane from start to finish. this shall also apply to any
portion of a race run in lanes.
(b) in all races (or any part of races) not run in lanes, an athlete
running on a bend, on the outer half of the track as per Rule
162.10, or on any curved part of the diversion from the track
for the steeplechase water jump, shall not step or run on or
inside the kerb or line marking the applicable border (the
inside of the track, the outer half of the track, or any curved
part of the diversion from the track for the steeplechase water
jump).
except as stated in Rule 163.4, if the Referee is satisfied, on the
report of a Judge or umpire or otherwise, that an athlete has
infringed this Rule, he shall be disqualified.
4. An athlete shall not be disqualified if he
(a) is pushed or forced by another person to step or run outside
his lane or on or inside the kerb or line marking the applicable
border, or
(b) steps or runs outside his lane in the straight, any straight part of
the diversion from the track for the steeplechase water jump or
outside the outer line of his lane on the bend,
with no material advantage thereby being gained and no other
athlete being jostled or obstructed so as to impede his progress.

I hate to be that guy, but doubling the 1500 and 5000 didn't help, either. At best, it was a needless distraction in a year when both fields are very competitive.
Even so, this seems to be the race where anything really can happen!
Not sure what happened to her but that was a truly awful last 100m. If she does that in the semifinals she's toast.

Yes they just showed it

Yeah, I think Munyai had lane violation on the straight and it could be argued that he was close enough to another runner to have interfered with him.
Couldn't see anything about Brown, but it wasn't the best camera angle.
The look of terror on her face. She always has been subject to the "yips".
Yeah they were side by side so easy to argue obstruction if he did.
I've seen a few athletes touch the line so they aren't DQing people for fun.

The goliath seems to have woken up now and is returning to dominating form. Go Polska!
Little has new glasses. I kind of miss the old geek girl frames.
