Wait a 1:57 800 is better than a 4:27 mile?

For most distance runners who have never done the 800, yeah. I'm a 1:56 800 who runs cross country (27:30 8k) and I couldn't touch 4:04. Maybe a 4:08. I think it's because the 800 is a race you have to go balls out a few times until it eventually works well, and many distance guys never so the 800 that many times/ don't train for the pain that comes in an 800. So a lot of people see sub 2 as this bigger thing than it is.

If you don't have the speed you are never going sub 2 so its does need a certain amount of talent

Can't really be done by only looking at a list of numbers
weather conditions play a part, as does your gender
did you train through on any of these or were they all championship races
is there an event you only raced once
are you a masters runner
on cinders, Mondo or rubberized surface

I rank them as you do, shortest to longest
If they are prs you can assume they were raced many times, in different conditions, and these are the resulting best results time wise............ Duh....

If it were 1:56, then maybe the 800 would be better. But I'd say the 4:04 is the best one their. And even if it isn't, the fact that you have 1:57 speed and good enough strength to go 9:40 and 16:06(assuming this is XC) tells me you have the most mile potential. That 400 time makes me feel like your 800 was close to an even split, meaning you're not a speed guy and shouldn't put all your focus in the 800.

I assume nothing. What is Lagat's 10,000 track PR? How many has he raced? Hint for you...less than 2. How many times has he raced other distances? So no, I assume nothing.
