http://www.oregonlive.com/playbooks-profits/index.ssf/2012/07/sports_agent_banned_from_track.html Not a satisfying response, and probably not their last. Congrats again to LRC for breaking the story.

At the very least this highlights Jeter's association with Block in the past, which she would like to have swept under the rug, as would Nike. |

Look at the comments below that story. They are the same scientology-like attacks that came on Letsrun when Rojo originally broke the story. |

At least it seems that Nike recognizes that his attendance in the box was a problem. |

What a joke. Gaining entrance to the elite VIP of Nike is an informal process? Are you fu.cking serious? What a joke of a response. The response makes me angry. Do they think people are stupid enough to buy this? |

Quality comments: "Seriously Allan, what is your obsession with Nike. 90% of your stories is directed at painting Nike in a negative light. From the non story of their use of property during the trials to this story. It's starting to get embarrassing how you can't find anything else to write about. See if you can find it in you to write about the billions of dollars Nike pumps into the state of Oregon through its employees and corporate taxes. The thousands of jobs that it creates or the fact that without Nike, both Oregon and Oregon State would be the equivalent of Utah and Utah State on the collegiate sports scene. Instead, Nike and Phil Knight has provided both school with the assets needed to compete and excel. And to those at OSU, please keep in mind that Pat Casey would be coaching Notre Dame right now if Phil didn't step in to pay part of his salary. Allan, you seriously come across as a idiot with a chip on your shoulder." Translation: Nike does some good things so bad things they do should be ignored. |

Nike sees something wrong with it, where is "A Duck" and his band of trolls now? A Duck acted like his "inside connections" with Nike made him their spokesman. Obviously they disagree with him (officially anyway). So much for being an insider there, chump. |

It's not in the past--Block is Jeter's coach and agent. Check the photo from as recently as May 4 2012 |

Wow, the comments below the story says it all. Oregon is bought and paid for by Nike. Apparently they can do no wrong and how dare anyone question why a drug dealer can find seating in the Nike box. |

Two things. 1. I posted no opinion on the Block situation because I had no opinion on it. Real life experience taught me that there could be a reasonable reason how he got in there -- such as their not being tight security -- which seems to be the case. I also figured the story would play out over time and we'd learn more, as we have. And I think the bigger question is with the USATF etc. in why this guy is allowed to show up at meets all around the country. 2. Knowing a few people in real life does not make one an "insider," and I've never claimed to be an insider. I know some...and once they become aware of the behavior of people like you here, they don't return to this website. Which as a half dozen people have pointed out means that elites don't hang out here to share training knowledge or competition news with the good people on this board. (Of which you are not one of.) |

Congrats on crucifying Carmaleta Jeter, who had little control over the matter. But hey, her name rhymes with cheater. |

There's a difference between going to a website and reading it versus sharing your training and participating in discussions under your name. Your view of "elites" is hilariously generalized. |

you losers are beginning to embarass yourselves & this is getting old. It's only fun to giggle at the retarded kid's antics for so long... You hate Nike. We get it. They didn't give you the ________ you felt you so richly deserved, so now you're chortling on about a total non-story. You're lame, boorish, & tiresome....like a bunch of 140lb man-purse toting, veggie burger eating, washed up ex-runners who are still pissed they were screwed out of ________ in their running career. Go start a slap fight with some pre-pubescent girls or maybe go buy some running shorts that aren't 2 sizes too small |

Real life experience taught me that there could be a reasonable reason how he got in there -- such as their [sic] not being tight security -- which seems to be the case. Real life experience has taught me that putting much stock in the first PR response of a large corporation to a possible scandal is ill advised. I agree that USATF also has some explaining to do, though their ham-fisted performance this past week does not make me optimistic that any meaningful response will be forthcoming. |

1. Actually what you did was attempt to sabotage the thread by putting up a great many long, obnoxious posts about how elite athletes don't read letsrun. That's probably true and for good reason, bu it had very little to do with the question at hand. To be fair I also remember you saying that you didn't think Block should have been anywhere near that tent (not a skybox). 2. Sure it does and you kind of have. Yesterday in the initial Mark Block thread you were pretty much the only person demonstrating immature behavior. Luckily, it's all been cleaned up now. |
