In today's Oregonian:
Freshman Galen Rupp will not run again this season after bruising a bone in his right foot. Rupp has a bruised navicular bone, a result of stepping in a hole during his last race, the NCAA pre-nationals on Oct. 15. The talus bone in his foot jammed into the navicular bone nad caused the inflammtion, said Alberto Salazar, Rupp's personal coach.
Salazar said the injury is not serious, but it had the potential to become problematic if Rupp kept racing on it.

god, i love how salazar still has to get his attention as rupp's 'personal coach,' even though one of the best minds in the sport is his official coach. Salazar and Lurry Lucchino need to take some kind of ego-management/delegation course.

No link, it was one of the small blurbs in the paper that they don't put on the website. Someone else can confirm that they read it too, but I typed it up as written in today's paper.

it isn't true. I checked the Oregonian
People won't believe me, but it bums me out to see Gaylord hurt. He's a big talent and has had some phenommenal races. I'll still call him Gaylord, but I wouldn't wish this upon anybody. I think the NCAA x-c championships is the best race anywhere, so its a shame he won't be in it.
For what its worthy, what trophy would he have been running for this year??? Certainly not a team trophy, individual plaque, I guess. I still think he would have been top 10 at worst top 15.
We shall try to start a Gaylord chant anyway at the meet.

I've cut and pasted what it says in the Oregonian about Rupp (at least in the link that was given earlier):
Galen Rupp did not run for Oregon at the Pac-10 Championships in Tucson, Ariz., citing a sore foot. He is expected to return for the NCAA West Regional meet at Stanford on Nov. 12.
This does not say he won't be running again this season. It in fact says that he will. So how does reading this get to the conclusion that he's done for the season? (I did not read the dyestat link.)

This doesn't say that he is done for the season. It in fact says the opposite. So how does one get that he's out for the season from this? Was there another article? (I did not read the dyestat link article.)

The bit you posted from the Oregonian is over a week old...it was from an article dated October 31st.
I searched the Oregonlive website and found nothing, but I'd trust Dave Frank on this, as he usually knows what he's talking about.
Couldn't he just ingest some DMSO and it would be fine ?
