Men's 5000: Mo Farah Completes The "Double Double"; American Paul Chelimo Surprises With Silver After A Slew Of DQs And Reinstatements Temporarily Cause Silver And Bronze Medal Pandemonium
Farah cemented his place in Olympic history by joining Lasse Viren as the only man in history to pull off the 5K/10K double at two Olympic Games. Behind him, three DQs saw 41-year-old Bernard Lagat almost win Olympic bronze, but two reinstatements later he was relegated to 5th as USA's Paul Chelimo was the shock silver medalist and Ethiopia's Hagos Gebrhiwet got the bronze.

Matthew Centrowitz Goes Wire-To-Wire To Win USA's First Men's 1500m Gold In 108 Years
Centro used tactical brilliance and a 50.62 last lap to earn America’s first gold medal in the men’s 1500 in since 1908. Defending champ Taoufik Makhloufi was silver as Nick Willis got his second Olympic medal in third. Asbel Kiprop only 6th; USA's Ben Blankenship was 8th.

2016 Olympic Men's Marathon Preview: Can the Greatest Marathoner in the World, Eliud Kipchoge, Become the Greatest Marathoner of All Time? Can Galen Rupp Medal After Doubling Back from 10K?
Kipchoge has won six of his seven career marathons (including four straight) and is coming off one of the greatest marathon performances in history (his 2:03:05 CR in London). He's certainly the favorite, but this will be his first marathon without rabbits. He'll be challenged by NYC champ Stanley Biwott, Dubai champ Tesfaye Abera, Boston champ Lemi Berhanu plus reigning Olympic champ Stephen Kiprotich and reigning world champ Ghirmay Ghebreslassie.
