So what? What else did he do in high school? I'm a few years younger than Armstrong and I'm from Texas, too. I did road races in the summer ever since I was a kid. I never heard of the triathlon on anything other than the Ironman elite level until I was well into college. Age group (junior) triathlon competition was virtually nonexistant even after Armstrong had graduated from high school. It was something that would have only been open to suburban kids with rich enough parents to pay for all the gear, pool time, and travel. Even then, triathlons are pretty much only in the summer, so if Armstrong really was a better-than-decent runner he would've been on the cross and/or track team to work on his running speed and endurance if he really was such a major tri talent. If he was any kind of a runner like what people here ASSUME he was or might be, then we'd be able to find some high placings and fast times at high school meets in Texas for him. So where are they?
