So I get a letter in late June stating that I no longer have a running scholarship with my university. I called my coach, and she claimed that she was incredibly sorry, but our funds had been cut drastically, forcing her to take a few scholarships from upperclassmen. I later found out that she had been planning for months to yank my scholarship, supposedly because of my performance the season prior. She had mentioned to several other coaches that she planned to use my scholarship to recruit new freshman with. However, I had a torn muscle (an injury sustained during our first meet), and I was in a cast all season. How was I supposed to perform well when I couldn't even walk? She begged me to stay with the team on the phone, but I don't know what to do. First of all, is what she did legal under NCAA policy? And second of all, should I run on the team or what? I love cross country and I don't want to give it up, but I am understandably pissed. I just need some feedback.
