Yeah, a real knee-slapped that.

The latest is a prediction of .11 inches on Sunday. I live in the Sac area and the weather is almost always a non-factor for CIM. Off the top of my head, I remember two years with heavy rain and strong winds that made running miserable.

You've got to be kidding. Sub 20 wind chill most the race one year. Typhoon like winds and rain in 97(?). Many other years with poor to nasty weather. It's often a cr a pshoot as to weather. But, this year looks not to be too bad.
"32 years ago they had really bad weather!"
Really refuting the "almost always" the weather is a non-factor claim.

Yes it’s part of the risk. That doesn’t make it “so funny.”
The part that makes it funny is that point to point courses shouldn’t even be allowed for qualifying for the Olympic Trials. The criteria to be eligible should be the same as the IAAF record standards.

Everyone got used to the last two years of perfect marathon weather at CIM and early forecasts called for another perfect year. Hopes dashed as we get closer. But compared to the years you described or the real crapshoot that is Boston, it's totally fine.

Sounds like someone is a little salty after trying to stack every external factor in your favor to have a chance of qualifying to find out that the weather isn’t going to be perfect. I bet you’ve got your new pair of next%’s and your Maurten ready to go too.
Just suck it up and do the best you can. Can’t control the weather, but you can control your attitude.

Half tights or shorts if it’s raining Sunday?
Depends - are you running or just watching?
Wind and rain will have less effect than temp. Mid 50s is fine, but mid 40s would shave a few minutes off for most folks. And the 100% humidity will mean you will be soaked, whether it's raining or not.

I've already got my OTQ and am not racing CIM. I just find it low-class to actively root for bad weather for other runners and be wildly entertained by peoples' failures. Call me crazy.

Right now it’s 50/50 for rain with winds from s/se at 8 mph. If that’s how the wind shows up there would never be a tailwind but that doesn’t seem like too tough of a headwind. And it would be from the side about half the time. Not ideal but hopefully not terrible.
JS is already making excuses for the race before it happens.?
Little rain doesn`t matter)))) And for the possible wind easy to just hide behind bigger groups at same pace.Prepare for a magic race! :)
Weather gonna be almost perfect! No sun , maybe showers, 59 F/ 15 + C !! I just love it! And I believe Phil will do too ))))....only wind of 4 m/s , will be no problems! CIM ! Here we come ......Let the show begin! ))))
It is 8-9 mph headwinds and constant rain. Not that good...and I will add that you're an average blowhard coach.

It`s not according to the weather forecast I checked . They don`t say constant rain but 51-66 % chance of rain....and I add I have now coached about 300 runners of different levels in just 4 years being an online coach, and all improved! Quite good outcome I think... ? )))
300 out of 300? Hahhaha. That's hilarious. I call bullshit.

Weather is shaping up to be alright. Low to mid 50s, maybe rain. Warm enough that you won't feel frozen running but definitely not a hot day. Humidity could be tough. Looks like similar weather to what Berlin got. Wind is listed as 6mph SSE (8mph gusts). That's not so bad. It'll be hurting a little but SSW would be entirely into it. Hopefully it feels like a cross breeze for folks.
CIM has so much depth that you should be in a pack if you're chasing a time goal. Boston was tough in 2018 but I actually ran ok and it was helpful running in a big pack. & that was with 20mph gusts. Share leading duties and I think it's still a good, albeit not perfect, day for racing. I wouldn't overthink it & would just get excited for the race! It's still a day you can PR on.
Good luck to folks running!

The hilarious thing is that it`s TRUE! :)

What KCRA Tamara Berg knows for sure:
"Be prepared for the rain and the breeze. Expect start line temps in the low 50’s. It will be cloudy with light showers and a steady south wind. This wind looks to be a headwind for runners. Winds will be in the range of 10-20mph."
With that said, use your bag drop wisely and thank the volunteers who are standing in those elements ensuring everyones safety!

yes, it would be hilarious if a bunch of men and women who love the sport and have worked their tails off to accomplish a goal were met with extremely adverse conditions in what is effectively their last chance this cycle. so so funny. hahahahaha.
You guys get it so fun

"Standing in those elements …"
10-20 mph winds are every day in much of the country.

Standing around in the rain on a windy day for several hours in the low 50s ? That’s not fun at all.
I ran a marathon with constant rain in the low 50s with no wind. Within ten minutes of finishing, I was very, very cold.

If your running; focus on the race.
Last chance this cycle? How about last chance forever? CIM won't be included in the next cycle. The 2024 standard will be 2:15 minimum.
