CIM is quickly approaching. Is it safe to say that it will be a headwind + rain? Will there be No magic day/ crazy times this year?

Right now it’s 50/50 for rain with winds from s/se at 8 mph. If that’s how the wind shows up there would never be a tailwind but that doesn’t seem like too tough of a headwind. And it would be from the side about half the time. Not ideal but hopefully not terrible.

JS is already making excuses for the race before it happens.?
Bump.
If the forecast holds, the headwind won't be too bad. I ran my last long tempo point to point with a similar headwind, and it didn't seem to make too much of a difference. Hopefully there will be some decent packs to help reduce drag. Temp is not ideal either, but overall not a day to complain about.
Saturday, on the other hand, would be a miserable day to run. Much stronger headwinds and rain. Hopefully this front moves through as expected and doesn't linger. The Monday morning forecast looks ideal. Too bad we don't get that .
Half tights or shorts if it’s raining Sunday?

Yes

Half tights for me. Less chance of chafing, in my opinion.
forecast continues to change a lot. hopefully the rain holds off; if anything, it's just slated for showers for now...knock on wood
The latest is a prediction of .11 inches on Sunday. I live in the Sac area and the weather is almost always a non-factor for CIM. Off the top of my head, I remember two years with heavy rain and strong winds that made running miserable.

I was gonna say.. unless you get stuck in no-man's land, there will be plenty of large groups to run with, so the wind won't be a problem.

This. Let's just hope the Friday/Saturday weather clears out before Sunday. That would be something to complain about. The forecasted Sunday weather isn't perfect, but also not as bad as it's going to be in the preceding days. And still better than heat.
It'd be funny if the OTQ hopefuls get a massive headwind.
or wear a wetsuit

yes, it would be hilarious if a bunch of men and women who love the sport and have worked their tails off to accomplish a goal were met with extremely adverse conditions in what is effectively their last chance this cycle. so so funny. hahahahaha.
That’s part of the risk that comes with choosing to go after a point to point course, even if it usually has favorable weather. The current forecast would be pretty solid on a good loop course.
Yes it’s part of the risk. That doesn’t make it “so funny.”

damn, i completely jinxed the forecast. now it's calling for a bit more rain and at 80% chance.

Not great weather, but still within the "no excuses" range.

The part that makes it funny is that point to point courses shouldn’t even be allowed for qualifying for the Olympic Trials. The criteria to be eligible should be the same as the IAAF record standards.
