Going to be a freshman in the fall, running 8k xc races. I had planned to get up to 90mpw for the first week of september but i was a week or so late in beginning training then lazy in bringing my mileage up. ive done weeks of 25,30,30,35,40, then last week real lazy and dropped to 30 again. other than being exhausted would it do any real harm if i bring it up to 50 this week then bring it up from there, or should i stay on the pace i was at and finish the summer at 65mpw. i am more of a track guy so i am putting much into racing this year xc because i might only get in a few early season races. so would this quick insertion of miles do harm to my base?
