Not too shabby!
Not too shabby!
I think that might have beat Hackers best 3000 time
Teg - 7:43.33
HackMan- 7:43.21 at, interestingly enough: Stockholm 03 July 1989
Teg, should have a pretty good chance to get 7:40 or under if he can stay healthy. Hacker was quite a stud so congrats to Teg for being is such good company!!!!
Dang, that's a great time for Teg... wonder what other races he has the rest of the summer?
Is Tegenkamp staying on in Madison, or has/will he moved elsewhere?

He is out of eligibility.
If you were asking has he moved to another coach/training group... sorry I don't know. I should have realized that's what you were asking.
He is finally coming into his own, injuries seem to be gone and a thing of the past. He has run some serious pr's in the last couple of weeks; what could he run his 5k in or better yet a 10k?
...Also I guess the letsrun boys are not a fan b/c they didn't even mention him on the front page with all the rest of the Americans!
Matt is running awesome. I really thought he was going to make the 5k team last year, but shit happens.
He is really turning it on as of late. Hopefully the big American Big Guns all show up for x-c next year & field a real team.
He is a friend of a friend; his plan is to come back to Madison, take some time off; stay there and train this fall/winter. His season is over, but a very nice season for Teg!!!! Next season could be very special if he can continue to stay healthy. I felt the same way about Let's Run frontpage; he and Rankin probably had the best distance performances in Stockholm and Teg get's no mention. Congrats to Teg on some great PR's. I had no idea that he had 3:39 speed and that he was ready for a 7:43.33!!!!!
Any insight into why he tended to under perform at the NCAA meets? Seems, always was more expected of him.
schumacher
Let's face it; Jerry is a young coach that is learning to coach at that level (In my opinion he is doing a very nice job and will only get better) Teg has been difficult to "figure out" because of injuries. Their intent was to try and run good at NCAA's, but be successful in his first trip to Europe. He did not seem to be at his best in the last few weeks of the Wisco season, but by USATF he was looking very good!!! I saw him there, not have the confidence to go with Broe, Dobson and Hall, but in the 2nd pack with Goucher, Torres, Riley, etc. he took the pace in the last 600 and really "hammered" and was barely passed in the last straight by Torres and Riley. His 13:25 was a nice PR; his 3:39 was another very nice PR; and the 7:43.33 was exceptional!!!! Too bad that he did not have another race planned in Europe, but I understand that with his past injury problems that they may want to end the season on a very positive note and rest and get ready for next year. I hear that he absolutely believes in Jerry and will stay put! Good luck to Matt.
Other than this year, he ran very well at NCAA's. His redshirt frosh year he was 8th. In 2002 he was around 10th, even though he did little training leading up to the race due to an achillies problem. A stress fracture in 2003 ended his season early. He was off a little this year in cross, but that was proabably because he ran for the win. He's honestly had a lot of bad luck, with injurries and ilnesses at the wrong time. Glad to see him healthy and running well.
To be honest, I was disappointed with his 7:43. It's a heck of a time, but after the 3:39 and his obvious strength/endurance, I thought 7:40-:41 or maybe a tad under. But that's a credit to him for setting new expectations.

are you serious? god, what an asinine thing to say. just give the kid his props without injecting your lame armchair coaching comments in order to make yourself sound knowledgable and informed. do you understand how fast "7:40-:41 or maybe a tad under" is? broe stomped everyone at USATFs and his 5k pr is 13 seconds better than matt's, and broe is running 7:40-7:41 this season. for the love of god, just give the guy his congratulations like everyone else and be happy he's running 7:43 right out of college.
Broe also ran 3:38low last season
It is right-Schumacher is a greenhorn in coaching. He's made LOTS of errors in judgement.Luck to thee suckers that stay ewith him!!
