Great run by Hassan. I want her to run the 1,500 at Worlds. More prestigious than the 5,000.
Yeah, after this I think it’d be crazy if she didn’t decide to run the 1500 over the 5,000!
KK closed in her 800 PB pace in a race essentially matching her 1500 PB. Doesn't get much better than that. No wonder she was all smiles. I've not seen her kick like that before, it was always her Achilles' heel.
I think KK ran the two fastest last laps in her career yesterday and at DL London (where she nevertheless faded from 2 to 5 on the home straight, probably by starting the final lap a little too agressively). At her PB in Berlin two years ago she ran about 3 secs slower in the last lap (ca. 59.5 vs. 62-63), so it is a considerable improvement, despite being 1/10 behind PB. It still looks fairly slow because of her long stride and because Hassan was very fast (ca. 57.5)
But I think she was mainly happy for the good performance and placement and that her friend Sifan won the race, she probably didn't get the exact time until later.
YMMV wrote:

The pace for her last 400 at her 800m pb pace?
