Why is this team acting like it’s never been here before?
You’re the best team in the world, even though England was the better team, and should have won. They missed a penalty and a sitter.
My, my, this team is beyond arrogant. This isn’t club level or el Clasico, where anything goes. This is the World Cup, where nations show respect to other nations.
We don’t need to reflect the foolery or our president.
And the comment that they also have the second best team in the tourney?
The men don’t do that. You don’t see classless stuff like that from the men’s World Cup.
Yeah, the foolery of our President as he steps into North Korea to shake hands with Kim Jong Un.
Other Presidents don't do that.
Just in time for Independence Day. Ha. Ha. Ha.
Ha.
I’m American and will be rooting for the Dutch
Who called England a "nation of shopkeepers" ? Maybe wear little mustaches next time after a goal.
What? Was there a nip slip I missed?

I'm just saying play football and keep it moving. They are doing too much. They really are.
I know you are American. I also know you don't know anything about "football". USA was the slightly better team. To say that England was clearly the better side shows you don't understand the game. And obviously it's factually inaccurate to say that the US didn't win.
Whether you call it football or soccer...
The point is?
It's still just kick and chase.

Bring countries together? Sure, after the game when they shake hands and say "good game" (which happened yesterday, but I guess that doesn't fit into the "USA women r so MEAN" narrative you seem intent on spinning).

Just as I thought, you never denied being a 13 yr. old girl. Your middle school snark gave you away.
This generation has no respect for God or country.
The English talk s*** in the soccer world endlessly and then run crying when someone shuts them up. Serves them right, take your "football" and go home.

All irrelevant drivel.
All that matters is that Morgan was mocking her opposition. It's pretty classless.
If England had scored and mocked America, you would have seen hysteria like you've never seen in sport. You know what you guys are like when it comes to flags and anthems, and stuff like that, you go mental.
The real issue was execution. Morgan should have had 3 or 4 other players sit down and have like a 20 second tea party with pouring and drinking and nibbling on some biscuits.
Honestly I can' t imagine how anyone can get upset about someone miming drinking tea. Fake shooting 5 of your teammates? Sure. Fake being a meth addict? Ok. Fake pissing on the ground? Sure lets get offend. Fake fornicating with other team? Sure no problem. Do a monkey dance when playing an african team? Yeah your a racist. Getting upset about a mimed drink? You have some pretty thin skin.
The perfect reason for being grateful that the USMNT do and will always suck. Can you imagine the arrogance from that group and the every four years crowd? It would be intolerable. The US are great at punching down.

The tea sip was a fully warranted reaction given all the bs the England team, especially their coach, tossed at them in the days leading up to the match. England lacked class coming into the game so they got what they deserved. Had they not acted as such then yeah, that gesture could be considered classless.
Exactly. I normally root for the English women's team. Not this version. They had some classy players like Lucy Bronze but those were the exception. Otherwise too much talk and too many cheap fouls. Jill Scott is borderline dirty in every match yet somehow she is the whiner.
I didn't care about the tea gesture for the simple reason of the timing. This was hardly a rub-it-in moment after the outcome was decided. Now that would have been dicey. Alex Morgan did it in the 31st minute after taking a mere 1-goal lead. That is essentially issuing a challenge. I thought it was fantastic, along with the execution of it.
Her teammates must have known it was coming. Notice how they stayed away from Morgan instead of the traditional swarm to greet the goal scorer. So I had a feeling it was a group decision and Morgan was merely the one who pulled the finger, so to speak.
The USA had slightly the better of the play. The OP is ignoring how a game evolves based on who is leading. That was pivotal in this match and also the match against France. Once the USA scores early in games like that it naturally pulls back and emphasizes defense, with the occasional counterattack opportunity. That enables the impression that the other side is controlling matters, far beyond what is actually going on. In games where you don't fear the opponent and have them badly outmanned, then no kidding you'll continue to push forward without fear even after taking the lead. But that is hardly the case in near-pick em games like the last two.
Notice that the USA quickly reasserted itself and took the lead, after England equalized. That is the truer measure of which side has the better of the play. Then once you have a 2-1 edge at halftime the second half is almost always a matter of hanging on and prioritizing defense. If an early opportunity arises, then take it but always focus on the back line.
This USA women's team is actually much smarter about this than 2011 under the prior coach. Not even close. I don't think that aspect is receiving proper weight in threads like this. Twice during that 2011 final against Japan the USA took the lead and had 20 minutes or less to kill off...first after Morgan's goal in regulation and then midway through extra time when Wambach scored. But instead of pulling back and playing smart defense the USA continued to push forward. It allowed gaps and problems. Japan finally tied it after a lousy clearance, and then won handily in penalty kicks.
Once Jill Ellis took over her top priority was to smarten and fortify the defense, exactly for situations like the last 2 games with a late 1-goal lead. The USA is not only smarter in strategy but excellent in taking the ball to the corner and wasting time. Morgan is great at that. Contrast to the Dutch forward today who 3 times had absolutely no idea what she was doing in the same scenario and gave Sweden extra opportunities it did not deserve.
Granted, the USA defense was also aided by tenacious players like Julie Ertz coming onto the scene. She was too young in 2011 and didn't join the international team until a couple of years later.
Ivanka Trump interrupted her way into a conversation at the G20 summit.
Whatever the US women's soccer team has done on the world stage (I have not followed this story)
seems to mimic the behavior of those you hold in political office.
Maybe get it together inside the white house first?
England had good chances boot America was clearly the better side. The players were more athletic ie fast and every time England had the ball were all over them.
I've not heard anyone complain here about the t sip thing. Its an inoffensive joke big deal.

What's wrong with them just trying to have fun and keep the game light. After all it is just a game (a pretty boring one for that matter). Some people just have to walk around with a stick up their butt, literally searching for the next thing to be offended by.
Happy 4th everybody!
Remember, history began on July 4th, 1776. Everything else before then was a mistake
