ummm, ever heard of Schenley Park?
Schenley park has like 2 miles of trails, bruh. Doesn't hold a candle to Frick aside from having the newest track in the city.

Because it is AWESOME. Rivers and bridges and hills and good beer.
Metro area is 2.3m, similar to Columbus and Cincinnati.
Atlanta only has 400,000 in the city but the metro area is 5 million.
Pittsburgh is the poor man's Youngstown.
If weed is legal in these Midwest cities or the south, it would be lot more tolerable. That alone makes west coast better. Or the fact that no one cares about it out here.

It’s interesting to see Milwaukee included in this list. I grew up there and moved away a long time ago since it wasn’t cool. I’m glad it’s turned a corner but when I visit family I visit the old, un-cool Milwaukee. I have to find this new version.
Well, I'm a regular visitor here, but Milwaukee has certainly had its share of visitors. The French missionaries and explorers were coming here as early as the late 1600s to trade with the Native Americans.
Actually, it's pronounced "mill-e-wah-que" which is Algonquin for "the good land."

I am from Pittsburgh and agree. No one should move here. Stop moving here. There isn't anything awesome or cool here that would cause people from freaking northern California and Brooklyn to move here by the hoards. Stay where you are.
^This is a very refreshing post. Thank you for acknowledging you live in a sh!thole city and a sh!thole state. Your honesty speaks volumes about your integrity. So many people who live in the sh!thole parts of the country (Midwest, rust belt states, the south, the Northeast) get so defensive about this topic and try to make pretend like where they live doesn’t suck.

Born n raised in the outskirts of Pittsburgh. Been visiting this page for a decade plus. Never did I imagine a thread about people moving to Pittsburgh, on a running site nonetheless..
There is some boom within the city limits in the last 5-10 years, semi trendy neighborhoods, not my scene in the least bit, but it's progressing and that's good for city development. The suburbs are where you really get an understanding of the steel mill past. Some towns, half hour-40 minutes out, any direction of the city, not for the faint of heart.
Bottom line, the weather sucks, just being honest. Winters drag, summers are a mix of southeast gross humidity and days of dreary spring like conditions. Fall is easily the most magical time of year, but it's so short compared to the winter type conditions. Tons of hills. So if you're looking for a road PR, I wouldn't suggest coming to Pittsburgh for a running trip. Nice trails, east coast style. Rocky and technical, some buffed out sections of trail, but it's no Boulder or Cali.
Weed is becoming more accepted, so I guess if there's anything going good for us, that would take a podium spot.
Same with Columbus wrote:
Columbus, OH, is similar.
Booming healthcare, campus, tech, banks, etc.
Accenture, Chase, Nationwide, Huntington. Lots of good industry!
My attitude has changed a lot towards my hometown. In the last five years I've traveled everywhere in the US, from Maine to California, North Dakota to Southern Florida, and so far I see no reason to leave Columbus (I work at one of those companies as a matter of fact). Salary in relation to cost of living is good, there are lively cycling and running groups all over, traffic isn't too bad.
For day to day living, the only knock are the winters. It's not that they are even super snowy, it just seems to drag on and on, especially this year.
Must be something to this whole rust belt thing. Buffalo beat out BCoops in People's "100 reasons to love America" rankings.

you all are just jealous ??
I've been all over and have lived in western PA my entire life. I love it here, shitty weather included. Good farms, good food, good beer and decent opportunity. I could do without all the liberals flooding here because it's all hip n' at now.
THAT is freakin awesome now you can visit EVERYONE you know all in one trip.
You can practically walk through the city and run into ALL your childhood classmates because EVERYONE you know lives there now.
Thank you for sharing.
Pittsburgh is a great place to start from scratch. I would like to live there myself. It has a cool soccer stadium and a baseball arena. When I arrived there, I fell in love with this city at first sight. And I'm happy to return there as a tourist.
I know right? I have no clue where people are coming from, but I can assure you that Pittsburgh has never been as crowded as it is these days. I thought that the coronavirus makes people leave London, but people still come to Pittsburgh even now! I bet it should be the old man with the van who brings them on, haha. https://thelondonmanwithvan.com/SW-South-West-London/ Now jokes aside, I wanna move back to London. Anyone interested in sharing the flat with a 38 year old smoking woman. If yes, then you're screwed! Lol.
