I have no idea what my 1st race was. Probably some type of sprint on track & field day in elementary school.
My proudest PR is a 2:59 1200 lead off @ Penn Relays as a college soph. We finished 3rd in the race.
Not counting the mile in PE class growing up, my first race was our 2 mile alumni race at the end of the first week of 7th grace XC. I think I ran 16:50. A month later I was running low 13s. Mile XC PR that fall was low 540. Ran 520 for 1600 in track that year.
Progressed to 159/430/10:01/1649 by end of HS.
Didn't race much track in undergrad, did spring marathons and fall XC

My first, and last race, was when I was studying abroad. The university, a mid-size one, was holding a race and party after. The winner got a large cash prize. I literally saw no one running at the university during my time there. I thought I was the only one. I thought I'd surely win and I told people. The day before the race I looked out my window and saw a young professor running through campus. On race day I swear wear hundreds of runners! And some of them looked like they were part of the country's Olympic team! They definitely did not look like students. The national stadium was only a few blocks away.
I almost got trampled at the start! Then I was doing ok and all these runners were passing me. What the heck? I caught up with a guy who lived in my residence building. He was huffing and puffing like he was going just drop at anytime. I didn't care. I just blew by him and then shortly went into the finish line. I was 10th! One of the people I told I would win was right there and said "You didn't even come in the top 5." I was humiliated they thought but I wasn't. Where did all the runners come from? Were they professional runners? I won movie tickets though.
So now I just run for fitness. I race against myself. I hate racing against other people. To each his own.

My first race was 6 months back and, I couldn't forget it in my lifetime. That much experience it has given to me. As a result, I'm still consulting my dentist in Burlington (
https://www.pearldentalburlington.com/
). Note it down you too might need this... Haha just kidding. I fell on my face and, broke two of my front teeth while running.
Also, there were some cracks in the upper jaw and, I have undergone a jaw surgery too...
First race, a local 5K. Favorite PR: Roberto Clemente.
18:56 5K. Didn't know anything about racing or pacing. Barely knew running. Went out 5:20 pace and died but hung on for a deal life. Hardest race I ever ran. There was not a single step I let it slide. I ave everything I got.
