Just wondering how people have progressed and improved. Comment your first race, it’s time, and the pr you are most proud of.

First race:
5th grade 6:27 mile
2 weeks ago as a freshman: 5:01 (hopefully even lower after this week)
First race ever, I was in third grade. Other than walking to school, running around playing outside and riding my bike, no real training. Ran a local 10k road race in about 55 minutes. First four miles felt great, at four miles they had a clock. If I remember right, went through in about 30 minutes, maybe a little faster. Ended up having to walk the last mile and a three-quarters or so. Couldn't walk right for the next few days.
Now a little over a decade later, I'm running 10k in 36 minutes.
Though, between now and than in third grade. I was pretty off and on with running. Only now with the last year and a half have I been consistent with training.
Depends on when you want me to define as my start but:
4th grade: 10:30 mile
7th grade: 15:40 1.5 mile
9th grade: 23:21 5k
13 minute 2 mile in track.
9th grade year I got down to 19:39 5k and 11:39 2 mile, but I had also run in 7th and 8th grade, the season openers of those years are listed.
Now, as a junior, I’ve ran 4:39 1600, and 9:30 3k (which I should break soon)
I ran the half mile in jr high but my first distance race was about 4 weeks after the season when I ran my first 10k. I was pretty happy with my 42:20 until they handed out awards and I wasn't in the top 6 in the 14 and under age group. I kept increasing my miles and running a race every two or three weeks. By the end of the summer, I ran 37:14. The following year I ran 34:50 improving my time 7:30. I was now in the 15-18 age group and still didn't place top 6! My fastest 10k in high school was 33:25 in the winter of my senior year.
First race was a 5k in fifth grade for extra credit, ran a 23:36 I think. Probably running tops five miles a week to prepare, thought a 1.3 mile neighborhood loop counted as a run. Best pr is 4:21 for 1600 as a senior in high school. For a better indicator of progression I ran 5:30 and 2:34 in 7th grade
My first race? There is only one race: the human race.
What about nascar?

Those were my exact times from 7th as well... 5:30 and 2:36 didn’t get faster in 8th grade for mile but as a 9th grader running mileage I ran five flat last week
My first race was in 7th grade I ran like a 6:40 mile and 16 second 100m.
Currently, I’m a freshman in college and run a 22.9 200 and 50.5 400
Done junior high race that I probably ran at mid to high 6min pace for 1.5ish miles.
First 5k freshman year of high school 23 low. Best PR is 1:52 800m
First ever "race" was a road 5K charity run that I did with my dad and brother when I was 12 or 13. I ran 22.22.
When I was 16 I started running "seriously" and shortly after my 18th birthday I ran 4.08 for 1500m.
From 18 - 20 I barely ran due to various injuries, at 21 I ran 4.06 for 1500 and 8.52 for 3k.
I graduated from uni in 2017 so I do road races now (no track meets where I live). The PB I am most proud of is my 72.high half marathon, but I think my 1500 and 3k times are "superior" in terms of pure performance (age grade, etc.).
11, ran in the 23’s for a 5K
2013 (21 Years Old) 1:38:10 Half Marathon
2019 (27 Years Old) 1:10:51 Half Marathon
Just keep running!!
I just realized I've been competing in xc for half the years of my life. Never thought about that before.
First mile (xc) 3rd grade age 8: 12:36 (finished almost last)
Mile PR 9th grade age 14: 5:28 (last year, sadly not able to run this track szn as a result of injury, but hopefully will PR again junior year)
Improvement: 7:08 lol i can jog 2 miles faster than my first mile now
First 5k (road) 7th grade age 13: 29:56
5k PR (xc) 10th grade age 15: 18:49 (won the race too)
Improvement: 11:07
6th grade XC ran the first meet (1 mile) in 6:57
Proud PR of 2:16 in the Marathon
First race: Indoor 3k in 12:25, 8th grade, after 5-6 months of consistent running.
Best PR: Half marathon in 1:14:XX, after graduating college.
5k Feb 2016 - 23:30
5k Dec 2018 - 17:53
PR I am most proud of was a very busy 10k race in London. It was 25c, awful awful hay fever, felt weary, course had way too many people and so many slow runners at the front of the pack.
I ran a 38:30 after probably running closer to 11k (seriously) and my first KM was 4:35!!
The next day, I had the worst norovirus you could ever imagine. I puked about 20 times and was off work for 3 days. It was probably in my system on race day...
My first race ever was an NYRR 4 miler in Prospect Park Brooklyn in February 2017. Finished in 35:10 (8:48 pace) which was a full effort. I was just running three days a week to lose weight at that point.
My best PR now is 1:18:08 for the half but I’m most proud of 2:47:28 in the Boston Marathon. Still feel like I have a lot of room for improvement.
First race: July freshman year, 24:30 road 5km
PR: 16:58xc November junior year
Hope to run under 16 this fall of my senior year
RIP: D3 All-American Frank Csorba - who ran 13:56 in March - dead
RENATO can you talk about the preparation of Emile Cairess 2:06
Running for Bowerman Track Club used to be cool now its embarrassing
Hats off to my dad. He just ran a 1:42 Half Marathon and turns 75 in 2 months!
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
Rest in Peace Adrian Lehmann - 2:11 Swiss marathoner. Dies of heart attack.
