Why do i get the feeling that one day there will be a revolutionary training method that will enable humans to attain that ?
I mean in the past i am sure people looked at the sub 2 hour the same way and its almost there.

Hunter-gatherers from 20,000 years ago were better runners than we are today, or they wouldn't have survived. Bekele is just a good hunter-gatherer - but without a spear.
They will have to make shoes that defy gravity or get the best Himalayan to amputee his legs and run with protease. They have the best oxygentransport but bodies that are not designed for running
Before we inevitably start talking about other animals and how humans are designed for long slow distance running due to our ability to dissipate heat, I'd like to point out that humans are the fastest by virtue of having greater intelligence. Intelligence is a superpower that allows us to jump off the planet and circle the Earth in less than 1.5 hours.
Humans > every other animal at every thing.
1 hour marathon is 15 years away. We are evolving into cyborgs without even realizing it. Hands, eyes, ears, hearts, legs, the internet. All viewed as progress. But when all continue to progress and are coupled and multiplied, we no longer exist as humans.
I can't even drive 26 miles in sub 1 hour where I live. So no.
Drugs and Genetic Modification , it is posible.
No chance because in 30 years time the earth is going to be 8 degrees warmer and we're all screwed.
Laughed pretty hard at this. This thread should be over.
The ability to cover 26.2 miles on a bicycle makes one an elite cyclist. Only a very small percentage of cyclists can ever hope of accomplishing it.
Let alone on foot............
Speaking as a once (fairly) elite cyclist: wrote:

It would probably be easier for CRISPR to create this human than a perfect match for someone like jamin. Totally relevant, right?
