I was probably in 33:00 shape when I ran about 4:20 for the mile, which is pretty close to 4:00 for 1500m.

Great , could you help me with your transitional workouts and how did you go about it? A brief training log would be a great support. I believe 3;59-4;00 is attainable.
Also one of my buddy ran a 4 flat 1500 and 9;05 3k and had 34 flat for 10k. saw one of the training videos of sage canaday in which HE RAN A 3;55 1500 BASED ON 10K STRENGTH!
Any thoughts on the same would be highly appreciated.
When I ran 33:30 I was dropping 3x 4:14 1500m reps in training. So I think it’s possible.
No
The only time you posted that indicate that you may have a chance of running 4 flat is your 400m time of 53s
That suggests that you may have enough speed. Your 800 time is weak, however, compared to the 400. With 53 you should be able to break 2 in the 800.
You are not going to run 4 now, but if you work at bringing your 800 time to sub-2, then you may have a shot. 33min for a 10K does not mean much: if you are a purely long-distance runner, then you are never going to run 4 with a 33 10K PB, but pure middle-distance runners can run 4 while struggling to break 34 on the 10K.
At the time I broke 4 I was running about 31:15-31:30. I think this is about normal.
When I ran 3:55 1500m I struggled to break 9 in 3k and my 10k track pr is only 33:45. My 800 and 400 was much quicker though.
I would think that you would easily run sub 4:20 with 53.5 and 33:30, but not close to 4. However, you have the speed, and now the endurance, to run sub 4 with a winter of specific miler training.
If you're way stronger at shorter distances, or young enough not to have built the strength yet, for you it could be an indication you will.
When I ran 4:05 for 1500, there was no earthly way I could have run 33:30. Later in life (and with thousands more miles under my belt) my times started to normalize around the McMillan / Daniels calculators.
OP may have a shot at a 5 min mile. hopefully OP is a girl with those times
I say its definitely possible my P.bs all in the same year were 53.3 / 1.57.7/ 3.58.9/ 16.20 (road) and 33.30( road). but don't expect to kick home - go out hard and climb some stairs over the last lap. there was definitely a lot of pain involved.

Seriously, why? You were 5/10 up to this point.

I’m an 800 guy. I did a fall and winter with a lot of tempos and CV pace work, and long runs. Sprinkled in sprints and strides after workouts. Didn’t do any mile specific training before the 4:20. Nothing under 10k pace (except for strides or less than 100m) actually.

I also ran 1:23 in the 600m in my debut for that event about an hour after the 4:20, on the same aerobic based training. Was probably in 51 high 400m shape at the time.

This should help.
http://www.letsrun.com/forum/flat_read.php?thread=346165My HS PRs were 2:00+, 4:00, 4:18, 9:30. I never broke 15:30 or 34:00.
It's hard to predict 1500 meter time from a current 10K performance.
I was slowish over 10K, but was running 1:57.2 for 800 and 4:01.0 for 1500. Seems you'd need to get into a series of mile/1500 races and several weeks of interval training to have a crack at 4:00. Don't expect to run 4:00 until you have a few races under your belt. Good luck.
Your 53 point 400 speed is fast enough.

not even close. You might be able to run 4:30 for a 1500, but I doubt you can break 4:20
??
Ok, I run in the ballpark of 36 minutes (maybe 35:30 on a track ) for a 10k and I can drop a 4:30 1500. So a 33:30 should most definitely indicate at least a 4:30 1500 and a pretty decent chance a sub 4:20 I would imagine.
Granted Op will likely not break 4:00 but seriously people .....
Lol at people who base their answers only on their personal experience, especially as the thread grows and proves how different personal experience can be, and especially because nobody posting seems to be a middle distance runner. The fact that you technically have a 1500 pr doesn't make you a miler. Unless you have the speed to regularly get drafted into a 4x400, and unless you have ever done a block of serious mile-focused training, your mile pr doesn't have any usefulness as a predictor.
