The leaders ran 60 to 90 seconds slower than normal due to conditions. That puts him conservatively in the low 101 or under range. Stout.

...and so it turns out his 20K split of 59:09 is apparently a national record.
So when Scheibler ran his NR HM the 20k split was slower than 59:09, he asked, already knowing the answer?
This was a good result! Why does everybody have to s h i t on him

Because it's Letsrun and 90% of the messages are from insecure, jealous dickheads or uneducated teenagers. Only on letsrun could a recently injured runner run a 1:02 half and be criticized.

I'm glad he is running injury free, but he has a long way to go. 62 mins is a bad time, considering he is a sub 4 min miler, 13 mins for 5000m and 27mins for 10000m.
He is still sub-elite status.
All things considered, I would not call this a sub-elite performance. Btw, sub-elites don't get full sponsorships.
This was a very solid result. Great improvement from the two halves he ran over the winter both in around 65:00.
The Mercier tables put Levin's half marathon performance equal to a 28:08 10000m or a 3:54 mile. Considering run was 30th at a global championship competition and the weather wasn't incredible, it was an okay performance. It was definitely elite but about as elite as going out in the heats at the Olympics. This is solid progress considering just two years he was struggling to run mediocre college times. This should appease his sponsors enough so he can pay rent next month.
Who did he beat?
Lagat: 62:00 PB
Barios: 60:46 PB
Kurong: 59:50 PB
Traynor: 61:57 PB
Gelant: 61:10 PB
Mashele: 61:48 PB
Murayama: 60:50 PB
Estrada: 60:51 PB...
He did quite well. Much still to improve, but a great step in the right direction.
He certainly has the talent to go sub 61 and perhaps even sub 60

LMAO
Great run for Levins. However the men ran 60-90 sec slower because they were jogging the first 10k, tactics...the women went all out and the conditions did not stop almost 5 of them to run within the WR...also PR for 20 of the first 35 women...and when the men started running they almost broke the 5 and 10k world records on the roads.
Cam is a good dude. He got brainwashed by Salazar into thinking that what they were doing was ok. A bit like Mary Cain. Once it got out that NOP are cheaters, he got out, stopped the drugs and here we are...

Actually he got fired. None of them left because of the doping accusations.
Yes, he is a great runner and I am glad he has been improving. Salazar helped him get injured.
No one is hating on Cam. I like the guy, and I'm glad that he has overcome his injuries. However, there is nothing elite about 62 mins, and finishing in 30th place. That is a sub-elite time and finish. That's it . The africans run sub 59 and sub 60 half marathons, and 60 flat on a bad day. Then you got the next level of runners who run 61 mins.
It's just an honest perception of his performance, nothing more, nothing less.
I hope he continues to get better as a runner, but his ability is not elite at the moment. Top 10-15 finishes are elite. Anything above that is sub-elite.
It turns out that almost everyone has dumped Coach Alberto... into the trash can.
Mary Cain is gone.
Shannon Rowbury is gone.
Cam Levins is gone.
Ritz is gone.
Centro is gone
Sir Mo is gone.

?..te.
If he lived in Iten your comment with be right.
However, he achieved the third best half marathon performance in Canadian history. Only one American beat him in that race. In Canadian terms (and maybe even in US terms), this was an elite performance.

Okay, fine. He is an Elite Canadian Runner. Are you happy now? That's like calling Ricky Rubio a Spanish Superstar player, when he plays like trash in the NBA.
He maybe talk of the town in Canada, but on the world stage? sub elite all day long, and there is nothing wrong with that.
I'm a big Levins fan. I hope he does well.
I do wonder whether he still considers himself to have adult onset exercise induced asthma, though.
