So I was wondering what everyone thought of my plan to getting back into decent fitness after taking a 6 year break. I was 16 yrs old when I stopped running and was doing about 70 miles a week with workouts such as tempo runs, intervals, VO2max workouts etc etc.
I am thinking of building my mileage to about 90 miles a week. All this requires me to do is run 90 minutes for 6 days and 2 hrs on the weekend. Which means that on average if I ran 12.5 miles a day for 6 days of the week and a 16 mile long run on Sunday I would pull that off. After running that mileage for a few weeks (say 3) I would add in 2-3 workouts a week in there gradually. I am already at 70 minute runs daily and have built up to this over a 6 week period so I am not too far away from the 90 minutes. My PBs in HS were:
800 - 2:05
1500 - 4:15
3000 - 9:23 ran it two years before the other two PBs above
5k road - 16:20
Do you think I can get back into PR fitness or exceed it in a 6 month time period? What changes do you think I should make to my schedule to make it stronger. All advice is welcome, I am looking to destroy my PBs in the next several years. Thank you in advance.
