How is she a pro “athlete”? Who would sponsor someone who walks a 10 hour marathon?
Screw ESPN for giving that fat acceptance attention seeker any publicity
I couldn't walk a marathon in 10 h carrying 150 pounds of fat - congrats.
With that much mass, the local gravitational field would be warped, causing clocks to run slowly.
I doubt Guinness has adjusted for this?

She calls herself "a professional athlete", but I think that just means she doesn't have a job and she asks people to donate money to her to "train" for years for an Ironman she'll never actually do. She does occasionally talk someone into sending her free stuff.

OP is trolling. The article doesn't say pro.
Oiselle would sponser her. Well, they might not make close in her size.

The article does not say pro. She is not a pro. No one else has ever called her a pro, but she does refer to herself as a professional athlete.
Elite in time. I've never heard of a marathon over 10 hours before. Who knew they even kept timing that long?
I heard ultras are next

She receives a lot of donations for her "fat activism". She is actually a professional athlete, in the sense that it's her full time job to train and update her blog.
This record attempt has probably costed more than $10,000. The plane tickets (her GF needs at least 3 seats for herself, Ragen only 2), the accommodation (has to be mobility scooter friendly), the camera crews, the weigh-in crew, the impartial witnesses, the fee for Guinness...

What a farce. Why not try for taking the worlds' biggest dump or having the most varied mycoflora in her folds instead?

It's not really ESPN.com. It's some weird archived thing. In other words, it looks like she sent ESPN her article (that she wrote herself) and they rejected it. But they decided to put it in some weird archive where I'm sure they put all the nonsense at.
I wonder if she reads these message boards? I bet she'd consider a lawsuit or suicide. Or both.
On second thought, I'm sure she's heard all this before.
Honestly though, i would put a huge chunk of cash on the fact that she isn't the fastest person in the world to do it considering there is a thread on here where a 250 pound dude ran a sub 3 hour marathon. I ran chicago 5 years ago and I definitely saw some really obese people doing that. I actually even personally know a few people that are quite obese in running groups who have definitely done even more than 1 thon. This is stupid.

But they didn't pay the money and go through the process to get it recognized as a world record.
Maybe they just wanted to do it and didn't want to be in a freak show. That's what this is:
"look at the fat lady! Isn't she fat! Look how slow she walks!"
Emma Coburn to miss Olympic Trials after breaking ankle in Suzhou
Jakob on Oly 1500- “Walk in the park if I don’t get injured or sick”
