Sage understands the art of self promotion. This is a valuable skill that professional athletes in all sports should embrace to maximize their short window of money making. If I'm a race promoter, I have no problem putting up $$ to get Sage on my starting line, because I know he'll draw eyes to my event. If I'm selling shoes, I want Sage to be wearing them 24/7, because I know a lot of runners will eventually see them. I can't say the same about 99% of other sub 2:20 American runners.
I think as a society we've been a little brainwashed to believe that self promotion is somehow a bad thing. It's okay to talk about people and ideas that have already been established, but the thought of someone new coming along and offering their own flavor rubs a lot of people the wrong way. Ironically all this friction does is add fuel to the self-promotion fire. Sage is smart enough to understand this formula, and his bank account is what benefits from it.
As far as getting sub 2:19, yes, I think it will happen in his next start.
