The time isn't that impressive, but there were some ballers up front who said the roads were a mess. Scroll down to see 2:10 marathoner Reid Coolsaet's photo of the roads. Pretty wild. He took third, about 30 seconds back.
It draws the question: Can you name some other races in these kinds of conditions in which Olympians competed?

Canadian Steeple Olympian Matt Hughes wins 10-miler (51:18) in "feels like -22C" temps. Whoa.

I saw MH in Flagstaff multiple times over the last few weeks, and he just "looks" fit. Im betting he'll have a breakout year.
-
MH is a great runner. The cold temps, snowy road conditions, and time of year relative to his peak performance season are the reasons for the time.

The womens winner, Carmen Douma Hussar, 59:17, was an Olympic runner, who ran a PB of 4:02 in the 1500. She's 40.

Nice to se her still running well. She did the kind of sporadic fade from the scene in the last 7 years or so. -
Vancouver’s Robyn Mildren was the top woman in the 10-miler in 59:17 clocking an identical (gun) time as second-place finisher Carmen Hussar. Hussar was an Olympic finalist in the 1,500m at the 2004 Olympics and won a silver medal at the 2004 IAAF World Indoor Championships.

Ryan Hall ran 3:26 marathon in Antarctica, with reported temps of -22F which would be -30C. -

Wardian ran 2:54 in that race which is awesome. I have to admit I do not know if Wardian was ever an Olympian (doubt it) and I'm too lazy to go search. -

Ryan Hall can lick my crusty hole. -
Was at the finish line and watched him come in. I thought Reid was going to win when I found out he was running.

Big deal ya lazy mofo (Wardian was not an Olympian), Wim Hoff ran a half marathon and later, a full marathon above the Artic circle wearing nothing but shorts, no shoes, no shirt. He also ran a marathon in the Namib desert (shade temps of 113f) with no water. -
Mike Wardian was never an Olympian. He's a stunt runner.

Those are some brutal conditions to be “racing” 10 miles in. I’m surprised that there weren’t more runners wearing some sort of face mask/protection. I know you build up heat while running, but having run many winters in Chicago, I know how cold your nose and mouth can get in that kind of weather. And to be out in it for close to an hour is risking frostbite on those areas.
-
I ran this, and it was tough. Not so much the cold for me, but the footing. That's not to say it wasn't cold, as most of the race was along the waterfront trail and the winds were strong. This didn't stop the muscular guy ahead of me, who was running in shorts, from removing his long sleeve shirt around the 8 mile mark. He had a small tank top on underneath. Of course, the long sleeve shirt was tied around his waist.
I saw him later inside the Y and he was looking quite red but he managed to show off his guns, so I guess he won in the end. -
lmfao, again. wrote:

Wim Hoff sounds like a dumb ass. -
Well, he is Jack Hoff's dumber brother, so he does not have a lot going for him.
