Good, because they're outdated, misused and simplistic.
RE Full Mile
Full mile is a common term in states that contest a 1600 meters run at the HS level. It means the race distance mentioned was a mile and I agree fully that the word full is redundant in the expressions full mile and full marathon.
Once upon a time races in meters were run exclusively on the track and races with the kilometer designation were only run on the road, over XC courses or on trails. Runners of my generation routinely spoke of having both 10 KM and 10,000 meter PRs. and everyone clearly understood the different meaning conveyed by the choice of kilometer or meter .

What is wrong with Quarters? I always assumed that was just the old school way of saying 400's.

It's a freaking marathon people. You never hear 'full mile' or 'full 10K" so why is this designation needed?
Maybe because the 800 or the 5k are not commonly referred to as a half mile and a half 10k.
"Full Marathon" no need to use the word full.
firing the glutes, lol

Maybe this is because too many people refer to a 10k as a marathon as in "10k marathon".

I actually don't find that hateful or stupid. For some, they still do "fire" their glutes literally, but their glutes are just so weak that it seems like they "don't fire" properly.
